Academy Refereeing

Hi,

How do I get started refereeing for an academy? I am a Durham FA Referee and I am 15.

Also, is there anywhere I need to log games I referee or do I only log if there was an incident?

Hi,

In terms of academy games, I only know 2 methods and those are through your local RA (how mine are done), or the CFA appointing them. However, generally speaking they will appoint slightly more experienced referees to academy games, particularly if Cat 1 academies are involved (and at older age groups).

I'd imagine whether you have to log every single game is down to the competition rules (which you need to know like the back of your hand if there are things that specifically affect that game).

In Suffolk we have 2 development groups who will mainly get the academy fixtures. The County CORE group will get some of the older age groups when they are short. We also have a separate 'Academy Referees' group who are seen as the future C-CORE group. And then other promising referees on neither group are invited to show their ability
