    offside?

Flip it round then. A player is offside in the attacking half, and goes back into the defensive half to receive the ball, interference. The free kick should be in the attacking half.

    offside?

    Yes, you should.

    offside?

Thanx hullref. When an offside offense is occurs..... Translates to..... If a player is offside and interferes with play.

    offside?

Without sounding semantic, the offence is being offside IF you then interfere with play. Interfering is not the offence. In my understanding.

    offside?

So is the freekick to be taken at the point of interference then?

    offside?

I was assistant ref today and I had a disagreement with my referee. There was a midfield freekick and the group of player lined up on the 18 yard line. As the ball was played in I clocked that attacking 9 was in an offside position. I followed the play and the ball to the 6 yard line, where 9...

    Who was right?

Thanx matey. These were definitely sequential offences.

    Who was right?

I was assistant referee and the following happened. There was a backpass to the keeper played with too little pace. Keeper came to kick it, attacker charged him down. Keeper kicked it out, attacker continued his momentum and left a late foot in on the keeper. It was a foul, maybe a caution...

    tree

Game done and the ball stayed away from the tree! Football is all about the what if so I did discuss it with both coaches and I told them, that although I was not sure what the correct ruling should be, I would always do a dropball if it hits the trees. Better to be wrong but consistent, I thought!

    tree

Just arrived at a game, there is a tree in the corner of the pitch, off the pitch, but thick branches overhang the playing area. If the ball hits the branches but stays in play, is it play on, or dropball? Thanx.

    Restarting after a substitution.

Incident from todays game: Last minute, score is 2-1 to whites, yellows have a corner. Whites want to make a substitution, I blow my whistle and ask the corner taker to wait, I do the substitution and move back towards my position and the oncoming sub is still making his way towards the box. I...

    quick corner.....

The first reply was exactly my thoughts and what I did. Had the boss not shouted what he did, I would have allowed it, and I actually did allow one in the second half. Had a chat with the boss after the game. He admitted that he said it to distract and that it was just 'clever'. Itold h it...

    quick corner.....

Blues v yellow, blue corner. Blue10 is standing with the corner, ball in the quadrant. Manger shouts 'let NAME take the corner' (blue9). Blue10 rolls the ball into play to blue9, I am expecting him to pick it up and place it in the quad and take the corner, but he turns towards the box and...

Junior/Youth Intentional/Deliberate pass to the keeper

It wad not a back pass anyway if it hit her shin or leg. It can only be with the foot. Had to look this up myself a couple of weeks ago after an incorrect call after the ball was kneed back.

    what would you do?

Fair points. It was once in a career for me, hypothetical for you, unless anyone has had this or a similar incident. The I would do it again wording was badly put by me, but I don't regret the call I made, as I felt it was common sense in that situation. (if it hadve been deflected, I think I...

    what would you do?

Some interesting replies. At a centre restart, if a player is not in his own half, receives the ball and lobs the keeper from the hw line, would you disallow it? I think my comment of 'i would do it again' was taken a bit out of context. I have always pinged it when the goalkeeper passes the...
