Actually, as a Liverpool fan, it was one of the upsides today of losing that game, and absolutely no blame or discussion aimed at the officials and VAR, same for the Utd and Atalanta games. Makes it a bit easier to take when that happens!
Had one yesterday. Adults game, and didn't award a penalty and the play went out for a corner. The team then scores from the corner and CF comes right up to my face to celebrate. Could have red-carded him, but what he was saying wasn't in English, so may have been a compliment! but definite...
That's great advice. I love the term NFC (normal football contact), and will use that when allowing play to contact. I have used the term 'this isn't netball' on occasion, which I don't think is wise going forward!
Yes was a bit of a soft one. Good to see referees in the CL games this week applying more common sense to tackles like that. I did a game at the weekend and players seemed to think I was letting a lot go, but I genuinely thought a lot of players were diving and making meals of tackles. I fear...
A penalty was taken by a Coventry player on 30 seconds on the clip. Slips over makes contact with the ball and hits the crossbar. Ref then gives an indirect free kick to Southampton. Can somebody please clarify what law has been applied here, as I cannot see anything obviously wrong with the...
At the time I thought straight red, then the whistle went and nobody mentioned it! Really bizarre from all the officials involved, which was a pretty incident free game and reffed well.
Wouldn’t have impacted the game as it was in the dying minutes, but really surprised this wasn’t t reviewed and given as a red card. Maybe being almost the last kick saved him?
Think managers and coaches need to look at the tactic of putting somebody on goalkeeper, rather than blaming referees and VAR. Always a high chance it will be a foul on the keeper or/and offside.
The first half was littered with players holding their heads after minimal contact with Guimarães and Paquetá being the worst offenders. I think the ref had probably had enough by that stage, so let the free kick be taken quickly.
I was joking about disallowing the goal, as I would clearly play the advantage. I am still a bit unclear about why the defender could be penalised for stooping down. Has anyone given a free kick against a player doing this, as you state for "threatens injury to someone (including the player...
That would have caused a proper uproar. Disallow the goal and give and ifk to the attacking team instead. In one fail swoop annoys both teams equally! Tempting to give that a go next week if the same thing happens.
Can’t see how this wasn’t given as a penalty? Seems like a clear high kick into the chest. Is there some sort of unwritten rule that anyone doing VAR cannot override any decision on-field by Michael Oliver?
