    Restart position after offside?

Under the new law the offside flag is often delayed. From where should play be restarted? Is it A - the initial offside position (where the player begins the run)? B - the position of the player when the linesman raises the flag (few yards after the run) C - the position of the player when the...

Player commits two offences in one action

Yes thanks for that. One final clarification on this please. If a reckless foul is committed and the referee plays advantage because there is still promise. Then the same player catches up to the same attacker and commits another reckless foul would this now result in two yellows and a red?

Player commits two offences in one action

Thanks max. Definitely makes sense. Its just funny how : - a normal foul which stops a promising attack would be a yellow AND - a reckless foul which stop a promising attack would also just be a yellow. Thats what I was confused about but thanks for the clarification.

Player commits two offences in one action

This is the law. Although, I realise I may have misread it. “Where two separate cautionable offences are committed (even in close proximity), they should result in two cautions, for example if a player enters the field of play without the required permission and commits a reckless tackle or...

Player commits two offences in one action

Hi James. Thanks for the response. Yes, I’ve already read it in the laws and it appears that it’s two yellows and hence a red. However I’ve rarely seen that been applied in professional football so just wanted to clarify.

Player commits two offences in one action

What does the law say about a player who commits a reckless challenge which is also a promising attack? Does this result in two cautionable offences and off or just the one? I've seen this so many times on tv and only a caution is given, but what should be the correct action by law?

    Penalty Kick encroachment

If the team mate of the penalty taker encroaches when a penalty is being taken. Is there a caution or is it just a free kick?

FRANCE vs Spain UNL Final Mbappe Offside

That’s where there is a difference of opinion even amongst the UEFA referees. Like them, I feel that he has impacted the ability of the opponent to play the ball because otherwise the defender would let the ball run, then he is in control of the ball and it is then that when the “deliberation”...

FRANCE vs Spain UNL Final Mbappe Offside

This is a matter of opinion. In the modern game when you have a striker chasing the ball he doesn’t need to be that close to have an impact even from 7 or 8 yards an impact can be made if he is making a run towards the ball. In this case he is only a few yards away. I’ve seen many same instances...

FRANCE vs Spain UNL Final Mbappe Offside

Surprised no ones talking about this. However, I think it’s worth reviewing. According to the one referees explanation - “Eric Garcia played the ball and that kills the offside” However, Mbappe interferes with play and is offside. That's true even with a touch from the Spaniard Eric Garicia...

    Checking players boots

Hi guys. I understand that players boots are checked to see if there is nothing sharp/ dangerous. However, what kind of boots fall into this category? At the end of the day they’ll be wearing football boots. I mean which any type of football boots are not allowed on grass? Is there anything in...

Position of IDFK for offside offences

Another clarification that is needed is on this scenario - if a player makes a run towards the ball but then he realises he is offside and suddenly stops and lets the defender play the ball without interfering with them. Now as soon as the defender takes a touch, the attacking player is no...

Position of IDFK for offside offences

An attacker in an offside position makes a run for the ball. The flag is eventually raised. From where must the indirect free kick be taken? Is it where he first touches the ball? Also where should the IDFK be taken if the attacker does not touch the ball (but still was penalised for offside...

Player abusive to club linesman. What actions can you take?

Yes, I agree. I'd just like to add that it's easier said than done because the main issue here is when the player/team believe that the club lino is clearly cheating. Now if that is the case then sometimes the player/team may lose even more control for being punished when they feel hard done by...

Player abusive to club linesman. What actions can you take?

If a player shouts out and swears at a club linesman of the opposing team - calling him a fat c*** etc because he has lifted his flag for offside. What action can you take apart from having a chat with the player and asking him to watch his language. Can the referee book him or send him off? I...

    What's a "trick"?

Circumventing definition - to get around (something) in a clever and sometimes dishonest way. Some would regard circumventing the same as a trick.

    What's a "trick"?

So if it is deemed as a trick, and the goalkeeper picks the ball up and is cautioned, what about the defender who chips the ball to himself and headers it to the keeper? Does he get cautioned? Also what is the restart of play?

County leagues and Senior County leagues?

Thanks for the response but you still didn't answer what leagues these would be? Are they the leagues on the English Football Pyramid? Such as "West Midlands Regional League" to name one?

County leagues and Senior County leagues?

I understand that Level 6 refs are county referees and level 5 refs are senior county referees. So what leagues are considered as county Leagues and what leagues are considered as senior County Leagues? For example, in the West Midlands which leagues would fall into these categories?
