    L7-6 promotion

As I understand it, friendlies are absolutely correct to count towards the 5 games for qualification but that is as far as they can be used. I may well be wrong however, but yes, best to check

    L7-6 promotion

I wouldn't say this with absolute certainty, but I'm at least 80% sure that if your county allowed that, they were kind of wrong to do so by the FA's guidelines regarding it.

    IFAB changes for 26-27

I just feel like the whole 10 second sub thing is pointless but whenever a team are trying to wind down the clock that player will be ‘injured’ thus cancelling the 10 second rule. I hope I’m proved wrong.

    Ecuador v Germany

I think it’s a language difference. Subjective as the opposite of factual, every decision bar offside / ball in and out of play etc will be, no matter how obvious it is

    Ecuador v Germany

I can (just) about accept an opinion that the degree of contact was massively exaggerated by the Ecuador player and isn't significant enough for a foul given he clearly wins the ball... but if you're unsure in these situations.... football expectation... it just needs to be a foul. Surprised to...

    England v Ghana

I hate the format more than anyone as if you can't finish in the top 2 of your group you don't deserve to go through, and Portugal winning Euro 2016 having finished 3rd in their group and not won a single match in 90 mins other than their Semi Final against Wales is the perfect example of why...

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

Easier to segregate away fans if they have their own stand I'd imagine, but obviously that vastly depends on the size of the stadium as to whether they'd have the whole stand or just a section of it.

Penalty shootout coin toss proposed change

It's considered a win by football people if you get the shootout in front of your own fans

    England v Ghana

Having watched it again, I actually do think it's probably a pen and should have resulted in a VAR intervention. It's the fact Konsa's flailing leg lands on top of the knee of the Ghana attacker that causes him to stumble I think.

    England v Ghana

Maybe it's the England bias in me but I don't think the Konsa penalty is stonewall by any means. He doesn't get the ball, but he also doesn't get a lot of the man who seemed to fall over anyway, all very messy and the ball went through regardless. Had it been given, I don't think it's wrong, but...

    England v Ghana

Think we got on the lucky end of 2 KMIs that could have gone differently. I do think no foul against Konsa and not dogso for Pickford are probably better outcomes, but if given the other way I doubt VAR would have intervened.

    Belgium - Iran

You would have thought the players would have learned from / adapted to his approach but they just didn't seem to.

    Belgium - Iran

To be fair, regardless of the protocol, if that can't be disallowed by VAR (and it should be spotted on field) then something is wrong. The player who was within 1m of the wall didn't just happen to stand too close, he backed in to the end player on the wall holding him off to stop that player...
  14. R

    Belgium - Iran

which it could be argued he did.
  15. R

    Belgium - Iran

Yeah he clearly didn’t fancy his chances of scoring, but there is a little tug so VAR can’t overrule
  16. R

    Belgium - Iran

Lots of talk about offside for the disallowed goal but not a single mention of the fact it had to be disallowed anyway as an attacker moved within 1m of the wall when the kick was taken

    Canada vs Qatar

If the tackle was a genuine and unfortunate attempt for the ball, I’d be more sympathetic, but while it wasn’t a typical SFP tackle it wasn’t great, particularly the secondary leg movement (IIRC, I’m not going back to try and find it again)
  18. R

    Canada vs Qatar

Exactly this. Appreciate the World Cup is a different kettle of fish, but if you caution for a tackle that has clearly left someone leg bone in 2 pieces on a step 2-6 game or even EFL, say goodbye to your match control. Unless there are other very very clear circumstances, nobody will argue if a...

    Canada vs Qatar

Might be an outlier here, but I'd 100% suggest red is correct for the leg break Injuries can't always decide the correct card colour and arguably if there's no injury, a yellow card is perfectly sufficient, but given that the leg break was a direct result of a bad tackle (as opposed to the...

    England v Croatia

I stand corrected. ITV. It’s a real shame because she provides some excellent insight, and it shouldn’t matter what the setting is, but we know what internet trolls are like, and the meme’s could have been avoided if one of the production team used some common sense.
