Liverpool v City - Klopp sending off

Surprised Guardiola didn’t get 2 yellows either. One for being on the pitch remonstration about a foul, and then arguing in AT’s face when going to VAR. PL refs need to enforce dissent, which will then make our life easier at grassroots when we do enforce it.

    Disciplinary Hearing

Have to disagree with that. First season reffing last year, and season finished with a FA hearing regarding a manager throwing punches at a linesman. I was asked questions by the manager, (over Zoom) and even questioned about wearing of reading glasses, for the hearing, from the manager, who was...

    MAN U - ARS

This was more of a foul for me a few years back at Old Trafford that wasn’t given. Think there is a home team influence on occasion!

    Decompression techniques

Yes, I was surprised how poor the standard was, and some of the mens teams I ref on Saturdays have better players! The ref was definitely hot on the cards, something I sometimes hesitant with, so good to watch how he controlled the game

    Decompression techniques

I went to watch an Isthmian League game today and was great watching the ref live. The ref seemed to be getting as much grief as I get when I referee men's games, which in a way was really reassuring, as I thought it was just me! However, he was doing absolutely nothing wrong, and he had a...

    Decompression techniques

Just started second season of reffing. If I think I made a mistake or wasn’t sure I made the right decision, then I will look up that LOTG again, as that is part of the learning process. Come home and watch PL & EFL on the TV, as it’s good to watch the top refs. Lastly, it’s very unlikely you...

    NEW MCI re-refereeing

The Trippier ‘tackle’ fits SFP perfectly for me. Really surprised it was overturned Serious foul play A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play. Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging...

    Luton vs Forest

Looked like the Luton defender deliberately played the ball to me. So not offside

    Cup Match

I had the same problem Saturday, mass confrontation at the end of the game from manager, sub, players and a spectator, questioning, quite aggressively, why I had allowed a perfectly good last minute equaliser. The lesson I learnt is to stop with the friendly warnings earlier in the game and next...

    Man City vs Arsenal

The inconsistency is why VAR chose not to send the ref to have a look at the Ederson challenge, but did the Silva one. Same frustration with Kane vs Robertson

    Man City vs Arsenal

I am fairly new to reffing, so would like other opions, but it’s a direct free kick/penalty if “impedes an opponent with contact” surely getting the ball here first, which is debatable here anyway, is irrelevant. Get this a lot on weekends, “I got the ball’, but it’s surely a foul if you take...

    Spurs vs Liverpool

Fair enough. Obviously it was more than a yellow, but didn’t hear if there was any response about why it wasn’t reviewed

Can any explain why Kane’s challenge was not referred to the ref to go and have a look at the monitor?

    Der Klassiker

Related to the game, do you think Lewandowski’s penalty should have been ruled out. Seems to me that he “feinting to kick the ball once the kicker has completed the run-up (feinting in the run-up is permitted); the referee cautions the kicker” What do people think, any examples of refs actually...

Game cancelled and not been told

Yes, happened to me this morning. Chatted with the groundsman who was there and he called the games off Saturday evening, but nobody bothered to tell the ref! Club will be dealt with and I will get half my fee apparently.

    Dangerous Play

Thanks for your feedback. Sort of decision that reading the laws doesn’t always prepare you for, as I justified it as , ‘anywhere else on the pitch that is a foul argument’ Maybe, there was contact, and I didn’t see it, as the defending team didn’t complain, or they didn’t know the laws! Next...

    But with no contact?

    Dangerous Play

First season reffing, and today I gave a penalty for playing in a dangerously manner. Defender had his boot as high as the players face, but the forward just pulled out, but did stop him heading the ball. Should I have awarded an indirect free-kick to the attacking team? Didn’t get anyone...

    Reds versus Blues

Micah Richards analysis after the game was also way over the top. Not sure pundits can be yellow carded!
