Have you tried applying and officiating in different leagues?
I have officiated in my Senior County League for 3 years now and I absolutely love it. It is one of the reasons (along with having two young children, one only a week old!) that I won’t go for promotion to Level 4. I would miss the...
That’s even saying he missed it. I bet if we had access to the comms someone would be saying it’s a potential offside and he has just forgot to flag as he knew VAR were checking it. My point being - difficult to speculate..
I had one today… keeper was fouled had ball in his hands. I said ‘play from your hands keeper’ he then drops the ball on floor for free kick and picks it up when he realises I meant carry on.
Needless to say I didn’t give an indirect free kick against him 😂
This was an entirely odd situation because there was a mass con happening due to a tackle and then the goalkeeper decided to run from his goal to the dugout and assault his own manager for an unrelated incident - bizarre behaviour and definitely a red card now I think back to it 😂
That was what I was implying by suggesting this incident must go down as VC. The whole act was aggressive though including the language. But the language used was no worse than some others on seperate occasions.
The problem with OFFINABUS in this particular incident is that there was a mass con happening at the same time following a tackle and therefore a lot of the same language was being bounded around - not necessarily OFF but it could be argued that if one player goes for that language - 4 or 5...
It was a really odd situation as the manager obviously tried to play it down massively as he didn’t want thin to be sent off - but he had just been roughed up by his own goalkeeper.
It was clear VC in my head at the time (I wasn’t the referee) however I wondered having had more time to think it through if it crossed the threshold for excessive force or brutality. I do think it does, on balance.
Does this sound like Violent conduct?
Goalkeeper runs 50 yards to leave the field of play during a stoppage and remonstrate with his own manager.
He grabs hold of him aggressively near the chest and approaching the neck area, pushes him and strikes his chest with an open palm (could be a...
Small bit of advice that you may have already thought of: Try getting yourself on a better position to be able to see inside and out PA (not always possible granted).
Take your time and always run in towards the foul once it has happened - a short delay between making a decision and blowing...
Sounds like you handled it well.
I often find honesty if the best policy - ‘I’ll be honest with you I just didn’t see it’
Obviously use this with caution but I do try to use this as a tactic to build relationships with players on the pitch.
Anyone can apply for promotion though, doesn’t mean you are any good.
For example - In our county there are a group of young referees in the ‘core’ group that are destined for going through the ladders as quickly as possible. Fair play to them but some of them are not ready and maybe never will be!
Thanks all, taken on board. I just thought there may have been some sort of system whereby high stakes or potentially difficult to manage games may have not being given to inexperienced, young or even poor officials in the interest of fairness. I understand that there needs to be a time whereby...
For me - until this happened I would not know the correct answer and looking in the laws it wouldn’t have told me clearly either.
I probably would have gone with the keeper not taking part at all but that would have been an educated guess at best.
Not just one. Seems like a pattern. We all know the referees in our league and the referees in our area enough to know how the game is likely to go if you are a AR on one of their fixtures. Of course - completely understand that the game could go fantastically. I just don’t see why referees...
Apologies I have had this experience with county cup appointments which are done by my RDO. I wasn’t clear. I have also had this experience with an appointment officer at step 7 but also find it happens to me at step 6 as well!
Maybe it is just me - I like to support other referees and maybe...
