    What do I do pre-match?

The risk is principally to the wearer of the glasses. My eight year old son only has one working eye so I am probably more sensitive than most on this subject. One of the players in the (U10) team I coached wore glasses and I wouldn't let him wear them while playing or training. His parents...

    What do I do pre-match?

How does what I said differ from that guidance?

Jewellery - when did it change?

Personally I don't worry about cloth or rubber bracelets. Technically they should come off but it's not presenting a risk to anyone. Metal jewellery must come off.

Jewellery - when did it change?

How long ago was it that the Law 4 was changed such that you could no longer wear jewellery taped up, it had to come off? Reason I ask is that I'm virtually certain some of the players who pretend not to know they can't tape it up were born after that change.

    What do I do pre-match?

I coach youth (U11 now but was U9 two years ago) and referee primarily adult football but being a coach in club with a lot of youth teams I inevitable end up doing loads of youth games too. Turn up on time, in kit (under a tracksuit if it's cold), say hello to both coaches, shake hands...

    How many games a weekend?

I could not do more than one OA game in a day, I don't know how people do that. I could do two games a weekend but I coach a youth team on Sundays so it's one for me, which is quite enough. I often do a midweek game too.

What is a Face to Face IST

You and a bunch of other promotion candidates spend a day together and referee instructors take you through various scenarios out on a pitch. You might also take your LOTG test. I used to quite enjoy them.

    Under 7s VC

It's almost unheard of for a U7 game to be appointed a referee by the league. But a club might well take a player from their rU16 team who has just qualified to ref 3 or 4 games on a Sunday morning. Or (as has happened to me) a parent who is qualified steps in because there's nobody else. I...

    Under 7s VC

I agree - this really has to be red regardless of the age of the players.

    Whole game system

Welcome Shahba You don't need to ask player's names before hand, just ask them their name when you caution or dismiss them. In wholegame your games do not appear automatically you need to click the 'add match' button on the left.

    Palace Arsenal

I thought it was from LOTG but I could be wrong, There used to be an offence called 'obstruction' which was replaced, at least in my memory, with 'impeding progress' but I thought it had to be forward progress.

    Palace Arsenal

Doesn't it have to be impeding progress towards the opposition's goal now?

World Cup WWC Final - Spain v England

I think it was significantly different. I don't think she had a terrible game by any means but she got some cautions wrong. What she did really well in the semi final was match control. I don't think she did as well in this game. I applauded her appointment to the final I think she deserved...

    Liar

I quite often get told I'm the first referee this season to insist their earing must be removed, it cant be taped up. That might not be true, but I see referees not bothering to check jewellery all the time. I saw a referee today wearing jewellery himself. So it's definitely the case that my...

Women's World Cup final refereeing crew

I only saw her in the SF and I thought she was outstanding. I thought we could use her in the Premier League.

    Age restrictions for ARs

I know that referees under the age of 16 can only referee age groups 2 years or more below them. Is there a similar limit for being an AR?

    How windy is too windy?

Thanks. Turns out the game was called off due to wind. The right decision I think.

    How windy is too windy?

I'm on friendly tomorrow involving teams from step 5 which is higher than I would normally do during the season. It's on a 4G surface. It's forecast to be 45mph winds. I have heard a rule of thumb that if the ball will not stay still you shouldn't play. Aside from the very obvious question of...

Open Age Caution procedure and write on cards

Refsix does this automatically (and also the position on the pitch) in case that helps anyone.
