Are you putting that through ref?

Trust me I coach that age group, the ball could be on the line about to roll in and I still wouldn't be sure of it! That said, unless a kid at that age is getting violent I'm very unlikely to get a card out at all.

Packing it in for a month

Saturday went well - had a decent enough game, no huge outstanding points one way or the other, but Sunday, bloody sunday! First game with my first promotion observation, let the nerves get to me, didn't stamp things out early enough, game got away from me and I'm expecting a 'below-average'...

    Northamptonshire

It's very short notice, but is anyone in the Northamptonshire area available for tomorrow morning Sunday 29th? I've got quite a tricky fixture tomorrow morning and I'd appreciate if a wiser hand would be able to come along and cast an eye over my performance, particularly in managing the...

    Multiple Games

Simple question - when you have multiple games in a single day, what do you do with your downtime to keep yourself in good enough condition? Last year I did youth games after sunday league, which wasn't too difficult provided I wasn't on a 3G, but this year I'm helping out on a ladies' league in...

    New Referee Advice

Once you pass get on to the appointing officer for your nearest step 7/6 league and get yourself on the line. Made a big difference for me to see how more senior officials worked in the middle.

    Knackered

OA sunday league (on a thursday evening, I know). Coming to the end of my first season so somewhere in the region of fifty-sixty?

    Knackered

Absolutely worst evening I've ever had as a referee! Game doesn't start too well when I get run into as a player rushes in to try and grab the ball - I just stood still to give him a chance to get around me as I had no idea which way he'd go, just bowls me over. It takes just five minutes for...

    Run Tracker whilst refereeing

When I was at uni the gold standard was always Polar, the main problem is just getting the blessed things set up, once you get it reading properly they're excellent.

    OFFINABUS

If I hear it it'll go in the section on WGS where you explain the foul, if it's an accusation, should that be listed under 'Other Misconduct'? Hopefully, I won't need to know - I'm hoping I'll turn up and get to referee a rugby match!

    OFFINABUS

The game I've got tomorrow involves a team that have been previously accused of using racial comments towards opposition players & officials. Obviously this qualifies as OFFINABUS and is a red card, but if it occurs again, what specifically will I need to include in my report?

    Return

Been moved to another game - probably the wiser decision in fairness but still annoyed!

    Return

It's on the 28th, this coming sunday. Just checked full-time and the two problem players from last time are both suspended. I know that makes things easier for me but I was rather hoping I'd be able to manage the whole set well - shouldn't complain though!

    Return

I'm heading back to a ground I'm not very popular at this weekend - it was the game I mentioned on here before about dealing with player intimidation. Obviously when we turn up it's a new game and we referee it like any other match, but what have you found works well when you're going into a...

    Today's Game

Two players tussling in the box, defender has a hand on his arm, attacker falls to the floor while turning - in retrospect it probably was a foul, penalty kick and yellow card. Just have to chalk that up to experience and do better next time. Fortunately the game wasn't close at all.

    Today's Game

Reflection on today: Firstly, nice to get out on a glorious sunny easter saturday for some football! Now the actual game incidents: 1. Managed to call most of the offsides myself, including two which were goals that my club assistants missed. The players didn't protest too much, and I could...

    Interesting Referee Comments

I'd hazard a guess and suggest that Mr.Gozubuyuk decided that, as the ball was already well out of the way by the time the contact was made, it was a 'fair' challenge for the ball. At the time the goalkeeper jumps towards the ball, it is in a position where he could have expected to reach it...

    Toting up

That'll be C3 as it's a series of fouls that you've cautioned him for, rather than one reckless challenge.

    That time of year

My OA game this morning was called off, by email, ten minutes before I was about to leave to drive over. Away team couldn't raise a team. I don't mind being fresh for the U15 game this afternoon but surely they could have known if they'd have a team a bit earlier than two hours before K.O.?

    Unsure of sanction...

OFFINABUS, surely. (He could have at least got him a drink first!)

    Intimidation

Following on from a post I made here yesterday, how do you deal with players when you're being physically intimidated? It's only happened to me twice, but both times I've lost my bottle and gone for a yellow rather than a red. I'm not a big chap, and most games I've not got any neutral ARs or...
