@Joshref You are correct mate! BS v A for further clarity.
Thanks for asking! I’m glad he thought it was the right call. It was close but one where home team agreed and away team disagreed. I was then accused of getting intimidated by the home bench as that was the bench in my half.
It did...
Absolutely. I did bring it to the attention of the referee at half time.
It was only my second game at step 6 so I am slowly learning what I should be expected to deal with and what crosses any line etc.
Apologies, let me rephrase that. He removed himself from the technical area to the stand and followed me up and down my half from the terracing. He left the assistant manager in the technical area (who was his son).
I only picked up the whistle again this October. Qualified in 2012 when I was 15 and now back.
On the whole I am enjoying it a lot. I’ve been in the middle for women’s games mainly and really enjoy getting back to it. Frustrating in terms of not quite getting my positioning right all the time...
You definitely were spot on in what you did! It’s such a shame that youth football spirals in to this and it is unacceptable.
I hope you have a great Christmas and decide to come back. Best thing I did was take more games as an AR. Work as a three and usually and still involved, even if it’s...
Completely understand your point! It was interesting that when I did speak to the ref about it, he was thankful that I didn’t bring him over to discuss it as he didn’t want that ‘situation’.
Thanks James! It did leave me questioning whether I had misinterpreted the law but I was pretty certain I was right. Kicker was not impacted one bit, the keeper just came off his line towards the ball and the kicker spooned it massively wide!
I was on the line on a step 6 game yesterday. The home side were awarded a penalty in my half and I took up my position. The keeper came off his line before the kick was taken but the kicker put the ball miles wide.
I didn’t flag for this as I understood it that as the ball was kicked wide, and...
Somerset Women’s County League has just postponed all games due to COVID. Of all 4 games I have this week it’s the one middle that gets cancelled! Can’t say I’m surprised…
Quick update - spoke to my physio and she said it sounds like IT Band syndrome but can’t confirm until we have a face to face appointment.
Did 3 games last week and had no pain at all during the games. As soon as I went for a run on pavements/roads the pain came back…
Evening all
Did a line last Wednesday and in the 90th minute felt an excruciating pain in the left hand side of my left knee. Managed to hobble on and get through the final few minutes. It remained painful to walk on for the rest of the evening and into the next day.
The pain then went away...
I’m sure everyone has a slightly different way but I just wondered how you all apply your different badges?
My kit has a heat applied FAMOA badge but I also have games where I’ll need my Somerset County badge on there too. I’m not in favour of buying a separate shirt with the county badge on...
Evening Guys
I just wondered how people conducted the boot check and jewellery check before the game, especially where there are club assistants.
Are you doing this before the teams come out for the game or whilst they are warming up?
Hi Guys
Not a new referee as such…I qualified back in 2012 when I was 15. I referred in Somerset and Hampshire until I was 19 where I gave up due to an incident in a Sunday league match.
Now at the old age of 25 I am returning to the game. I’ve got a game on the line next Saturday an an u18...
