Doesn’t appear to be any real advantage there for me - correct decision. Possibly could have held on the whistle for a fraction but I think would have ended up being pulled back for same outcome anyway
This is great advice.
I personally also like to sell my no free kick decisions as well. Communicate quickly, ‘no foul’ and a clear outstretched arms hand gesture to tell everyone I have seen it and it is not a foul. Shows everyone that you are in control and you haven’t just missed it or are...
Thanks all for your replies.
Bit of confusion apologies on my part and just to make sure no one else uses their time replying the same thing…
I do fully understand how club marks work at level 5 and at 4 and I don’t particularly care if they are 0 or 100 to be honest.
That said, in my...
Hi all
Would it be a reasonable request to ask a referee secretary to provide me with my club average and position in the referee panel rankings for the season for the league?
Purely out of curiosity more than anything.
Thanks
Anyone ever done this?
It happened to me in a cup final with a goalkeeper, 2nd yellow for delaying restart, forgot I had booked him. Obviously had to stick to my guns and show the Red. Not a great look and took some flack.
Keep it very simple.
Contact them beforehand to confirm details.
Ask them if they have got any questions and go through anything you would like them to do extra to a normal AR.
Enjoy having two neutral officials!
How many people if pushed by a player on a Saturday / Sunday would go yellow card and how many would go red?
I agree about the laws but let’s just apply some common sense here. I’m a teacher, if a student pushes another student and a student pushes a teacher the outcomes are, quite rightly...
If a player pushes me on a Saturday he is getting a red card, violent or not.
Context is key of corse - this looked to me as a ‘get out the way I want to get on with it’ shove rather than a ‘let’s have a fight’ shove. Does that matter? I’m not so sure.
As a caveat, I do think SB dealt with...
Senior county local derby. Top of the table clash coming up, I have been appointed in the middle.
I know that one of the neutrally appointed ARs is absolutely hated by both teams for reasons that I won’t go into.
Is there any different way of approaching this game that you would do as a...
We al
We all miss them. Had a comment from manager once ‘****ing ***’ relating a nationationality, clear racism. Opposition begging me to not make a deal of it and just gave a talking to to both managers. Played on my mind so much after that I should have sent him off (obviously I should...
This saddens me - youth players already using language like this - what a mess the game of football is. If they used this language at school they would receive a sanction. Context is key but all of these need pulling up and a strong public telling off at the very least. Last one is a RC and ER...
Have you tried applying and officiating in different leagues?
I have officiated in my Senior County League for 3 years now and I absolutely love it. It is one of the reasons (along with having two young children, one only a week old!) that I won’t go for promotion to Level 4. I would miss the...
That’s even saying he missed it. I bet if we had access to the comms someone would be saying it’s a potential offside and he has just forgot to flag as he knew VAR were checking it. My point being - difficult to speculate..
I had one today… keeper was fouled had ball in his hands. I said ‘play from your hands keeper’ he then drops the ball on floor for free kick and picks it up when he realises I meant carry on.
Needless to say I didn’t give an indirect free kick against him 😂
This was an entirely odd situation because there was a mass con happening due to a tackle and then the goalkeeper decided to run from his goal to the dugout and assault his own manager for an unrelated incident - bizarre behaviour and definitely a red card now I think back to it 😂
