    City v Sheff United

I can't recall it being wrong here, other than that time our Grand Final was decided by a goal that was offside that wasn't overturned by the VAR, because the feed to the VAR cut out for 5 minutes, which happened to be when the goal was scored. Linesman was told to keep the flag down if it was...

    Smart Watch Match Reporting

Yeah, that's what I said I did. Still trying to decide whether I want to use the keypad or the scroller though. I feel like the keypad works better, except when you put the wrong number in (Whoops) Anyone using RefSix: Do you know how to limit substitutions? Or create a template where players...

    I got the ball ref!

    Diggin' up some old ones

    VAR decision done correctly

Yeah, I wouldn't say it "works" here, but it does have it's moments to shine., as well as its issues like toenail and armpit offsides earlier in the year.

    Wolves v Citee

    I'll just leave this here

    Linesman side of pitch

I believe Capital Football here in Canberra run Left-Back as mentioned. Don't know if it's a protocol or anything yet. Only protocol I've heard is when there is a CAR and an AR, the AR does the side of the field with the dugouts/team officials/substitutions etc

    Referee Explaining Decisions

Thought I might as well merge the discussions into one MINI MATCH OF GAME The inconsistency to me is the Western Sydney player kicking out at the Adelaide player after being fouled (incident at 3:20 in the attached video) Then, there is the penalty 6 minutes in, where the fouled player from...

    Referee Explaining Decisions

Just posted another thread about this match, because I thought about a bit of an inconsistency watching this match. I do think this is a good idea for transparency and accountability. Questioning referee decisions in the media seems to be a big past-time in all Australian sports, but it only...

Adelaide United v Western Sydney Wanderers

So, I'm trying to find the right videos to attach because they don't seem to be in the same highlights package, but found these couple decisions interesting. In this video, about 30 seconds in, it shows a fouled player lash out by kicking out at the offending player, no sanction for EITHER...

    Smart Watch Match Reporting

So I sat down for Friday night A-League and set up the match, and basically entered on the watch as the match went along to see how it went. I do think the RefSix interface is a lot better than RefLive. Only issue I had was using the keypad (rather than the scrolly pick a player option), was...

    Boots

This is a good question for me too. Would I just be allowed to use my old football boots?

    Opposing GKs same colour

Depends on the regulations of your competition I suppose. For example, the top two senior divisions where I am from states that GK's may not wear the same colour, as well as the same colour as the referee.

    Smart Watch Match Reporting

Yes, I think the stats is the main thing tempting me to subscribe. Considering season doesn't start until April here, I might give them both little trial runs around the house / pre-season matches, etc and see how it goes.

    Smart Watch Match Reporting

Bumped an old thread (Sorry @Ross , used to forums where people get angry if there's another thread about a similar topic and it's not bumped) Basically just wanted to ask those who do use smartwatches in game, which app do you find best? RefLive, RefSix, or something else? My wife spoiled me...

    Technology

So, I know I'm bumping up a really old topic, but for those who do use smartwatches in game, which app do you find best? RefLive, RefSix, or something else? My wife spoiled me and bought me an Apple Watch for Christmas (I used to have one until some financial difficulties meant I had to sell...

    Unusual situation introduced by VAR

It's one of those things I guess we all need to know the process of the VAR for. Should they just theoretically check the whole play whenever they are called in? Or just look for a certain thing. Another sport (and another country), but one thing that I like that has been done in the NRL Rugby...

Laws/Rules that you didn't know existed until becoming a referee

See, that's how I understood it to be before I did the LOTG, but I was very mistaken. However, it just made me remember, that penalty shootout somewhere that someone caught on camera, where the shot was rebounded up high in the air, but then the keeper was celebrating and the ball then landed...

Laws/Rules that you didn't know existed until becoming a referee

I always interpreted as not interfering with play meant you weren't offside. But then in the early days of FIFA video games, coding meant that if ANYONE was offside, the game had to call it as offside, or something like that, so it messed with my head a bit.

    Referee gets pushed

It's probably just one of those things where they lump it under OFFINABUS

Laws/Rules that you didn't know existed until becoming a referee

Yep, I think I taught a referee doing an NPL2 match that I was a team official for last season, that a thrower's feet can be on the line for a throw in.
