Brighton v Manchester United - Handball after final whistle

Hi all, in the BRIMUN game, Maupay handballed in the box (which was a penalty), but wasn't given at the time, the referee blew the final whistle and then went over to the VAR stand to check it and awarded it after FT is called; I had no idea they can do that? Has anyone seen this referenced in...

    First match advice

Hi! I've just started doing games with U11 and U12 and honestly especially with under 12s I've been really enjoying the games lately, entertaining and enjoyable. I use Refsix on my Samsung watch just so I can see heatmaps and stuff, but just enjoy yourself, speak with both the coaches positively...

    Just a silly question..

I'm not really sure how to phrase this but.. I referee U12s and they are in a league, CARs are always used for the games. Say if I bought 2 of my friends to a game who have no affiliation to either the home or away club, would they be able to lino as NARs/CARs (for both teams) Again sorry if...

    Junior/Youth Club Assistant Referee tips?

Hi all, I'm thinking of going to an U13 game in the local area to be a CAR for the home team, any tips on this and what I should do etc?

Should you abandon a match if..

If there is frost on the pitch, meaning it's near impossible to see any kind of pitch markings whatsoever?

    First referring game

Nice one! I'm very new to but I'm just doing smaller youth games at the moment (U9s-U13s), and when I'm in the car driving to the game I get intense butterflies but I find as soon as I get onto the field it's all ok.

Ladies First girl's game next week. Anything different?

Don't want to seem sexist or anything, just curious what is the contrast like between boy's youth and girl's youth football? I've been assigned an U13 girl's game. Any tips or anything before going into it? Highest I've done so far is U12 boys. Cheers x

Junior/Youth Major incident with parents & coaches

UPDATE - I had the next game after last week's incident today! It went very well, coaches were a lot friendlier, and was an all-round good match. One penalty and a few silly fouls given away, a little bit of mouth from the crowd but nothing I couldn't cope with haha Thanks for all your support...

Junior/Youth Major incident with parents & coaches

Yes. The same age group. It has not put me off, if anything it's made me more inspired almost to continue - things like what happened last week was what I was scared and nervous about before every game, now it's happened, I'm not so nervous.

Junior/Youth Major incident with parents & coaches

CONTEXT: This was an Under 9s cup game, I am a 15 year old going on the course in 2020. Blue = Home team Red = Away team The game itself within the first half was quite calamatious and lots of 50/50 challenges and decisions, most of which were going Blue's way, because that's how I saw the...

    2nd Match

U12s in my experience can be a bit more physical to each other leading to more fouls given, don't fret to give a yellow card just because they're younger, they should know basic rules by then. Ignore the parents and remember U11/U12s have CARs.

    Junior/Youth U12s incident

Yeah me saying a "bit of abuse" is just parents and players disagreeing, nothing too bad, cheers though!

    Junior/Youth U12s incident

Hi guys just wondering what you would've done in this situation? It's a cup game. 3-2 to the yellows, 3 minutes to go. Ball is up in the air, yellow wins it cleanly however falls down in the process onto an already fallen blue player, yellow takes the ball away, however the 2 fallen players...

    Advice for a new referee

Sorry haha was typing in a rush. Yes I signal along with verbalisation to aid in teaching them what the different signals mean! ☺️

    Advice for a new referee

Hey! I'm doing U14s-U8s at the moment, I speak to them like adults, just a bit simpler language so they can understand, especially at the coin toss, however by U13 I would say you can speak to them like an OA game. Instead of signalling I verbalise everything so it's a bit easier for them to...
