Not sure what this ref was thinking...

I’m past caring what the players say for stuff like this. I’ve had situations where I’ve paced the 10 yards, the wall has complained it’s too far and the FK taker has claimed it’s too close 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Not sure what this ref was thinking...

Of course not but it’s not a bad rule of thumb. 10 is about right for me at 5’8. Equipping the referees with pace-sticks should iron this kind of thing out. 😉

Not sure what this ref was thinking...

I appreciate pacing out the 10 yards isn’t a precise science, but this guy hasn’t done himself any favours here. They’re pretty standard strides, not sure how he believes 7 of them would equate to 10 yards? Pretty silly way of losing players confidence in you.

Bobby Madley opens up on why he left

The SG1 bunch sound like a gang of schoolgirls. Remember reading about the cliques in Polls book. Your face fitting should be irrelevant, as you’re pretty much by yourself when it matters (or atleast a small team of 4). Probably a contributing factor to the fact refereeing at the top level in...

    Norwich Tottenham

OS should be changed to feet because of this IMO. When you’re talking mm it’s almost impossible to figure out where a shoulder/armpit begins from a camera 50+ yards away. That’s without taking into account the exact frame the ball was struck. Are players really gaining an advantage by having...

    VAR Farce Part Deux

It’s crazy. The PGMOL shouldn’t be in a position where they can decide how and when to use it IMO. It should be used to it’s full capability with the same level of transparency cricket uses whilst a decision is being reviewed. Why not? Not buying into the ******** it’ll take too long to...

    VAR Farce Part Deux

I’m not envisaging a scenario where the ref would go on the public mic with players surrounding him. Personally I’d like to see the ref move towards to VAR screen, give it a 5 meter exclusion zone for players (even if it’s an imaginary line) then play all the communications to the public when...

    VAR Farce Part Deux

Possibly. Doesn’t really add up as the swearing will be heard by those in the stands anyway, as it’s coming from the stands and the TV is constantly picking it up- unavoidable. I’m sure there’s a microphone out there that’s noise cancelling.

    VAR Farce Part Deux

Yeah I’ve seen the 10/15 min(?) version. Just proves it can be done though. Maybe not the entire discussion but as soon as VAR’s involved get it over the tannoy/tv feed. No hiding place for random calls and everyone knows exactly what’s going on. I don’t see what the problem is.

    VAR Farce Part Deux

Is it beyond the realms of possibility to introduce this kind of visibility to the VAR decision making process in future? Would love to see it.

    No booking?

Fair point. Picking and choosing when to apply the law in a situation so blatant is a can of worms. Do you book the arsenal player that does the same if the ball isn’t going out? If yes how do you explain that when you gave the other team a pass? I agree that it’s not unsporting and he’s...

    No booking?

I don’t know what the player was thinking but you have to question why the ref hasn’t booked him here!

    Assistant referee pregame

Yeah I have done the ‘synchronised return’ following the net check, thought it was a bit OTT as it wasn’t much of an occasion! It seems looking good is half the battle 😂

    Leicester vs Everton

Thankfully, for the officials, it was only Everton...so no media outrage 😂

    Assistant referee pregame

Turn up no later than 30 mins before KO, I aim for about 45mins usually. A decent ref should give both his AR’s a briefing before the game. I.e what to do in x/y/z situation, when he wants you to flag/when he doesn’t want you to flag. If you have any questions after his briefing, then I’d...

    Leicester vs Everton

Biased (but correct) opinion- dive. 100%. Went down under no contact. No idea why he wasn’t booked? Seems officials or the authorities just aren’t willing to stamp out cheating, if anything they encourage it. Where’s the retrospective punishments? VAR got the winner spot on, however, the AR...

Leaving the field of play at the closest point during a substitution (West Ham v Spurs)

They might as well just bin this as it’s not being enforced by officials and naturally, the players aren’t paying a blind bit of attention to it- when it suits.

U14 school fixture--goal-line technology would have been useful

Spot on. Get this a lot with ball in/out on the goal line...it was in/out ref! First answer is always that I’ve got no AR’s- with a shrug. If they carry on I remind them I’m not guessing if I’m not sure. If they still persist it is a warning to get on with it or people will be going in the bin...

    Reds, v Cityzens

I don’t see an offside. The handball for the first is one of them that would be given to certain teams against certain teams...that’s all I’m saying!

    VAR Farce Part Deux

    It’s a F****** farce. Simple as that.
