    Paul Tierney

Paul Tierney has been appointed to Swansea vs. WBA. Is that the first time since the Select Group was created that a non SG official was appointed to referee a PL game? (odd considering Atkinson is fourth official).

    Hull vs. Stoke

Agreed - ultimately, what he gave was a throw in, not a goal (initially!)

    Hull vs. Stoke

Definite goal - saw it with the naked eye but why did it take him so long to give it?

    Burnley vs. Chelsea

There was contact - could you even argue that as Costa was looking for it, it was in effect him who kicked Heaton?

    Burnley vs. Chelsea

The Diego Costa yellow card for simulation. For me, it wasn't a dive, but it wasn't a penalty because he seemed to trip over the ball and land on Heaton. Thoughts?

    League 2 Favourites

We're normally very good on the road - I was really annoyed to have missed it, first missed since March but I woke up at 6am to listen to the commentary in the US. Looking forward to Carlisle and Plymouth in the space of 8 days! The reason you had so many was because it was your first FL game in...

    League 2 Favourites

FourFourTwo and the Telegraph both fancy Southend to win the league - that never happens!! :)

Open Age Mixed game penaulty or nah

If he doesn't flag and you're not certain then there's no way you can give a penalty.

    The Respect Line

Technically 3 yards and only applies to spectators - not coaches (coaches on one side of the pitch, spectators on the other).

    David Elleray....Racist?

@Ross @DanCohen17 can I suggest this thread has been exhausted?

    Referee ID Cards

I cannot understand how a non-qualified, non-registered referee would be appointed?

    David Elleray....Racist?

It sounds to me as though somebody who goes out looking for racism heard an innocent comment and sold it to the papers. The fact that no official complaint was made suggests that the comment was taken in the way it was intended (I.e. not racist) and Elleray has only apologised because it's less...

"WC referee hits back at critics"

"attacked a Chinese restaurant" - the suggestion that making a bad decision in a sports match is worse than that - at least get the right cuisine!

    Fixture Release

We've got three long away games in August - can't make Accrington on the opening day because I'm on holiday, but in the space of 8 days I'm doing the furthest north (Carlisle) and furthest south and furthest west (Plymouth). Probably about 26 hours on a coach in all - ouch!!

    Vanishing Spray

Will also be used in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, although not the Football League.

    Confirming numbers for penalties

He is still one of the eleve finishing the game, so he is one of the eleven who could take a penalty. He cannot opt out, just as any of the other ten cannot opt out.

    From behind

Has the defender's foot gone between the attacker's legs or to one side. The I cannot imagine a situation where the former occurs and it would not be a foul, but the latter should never be a foul merely because of the angle.

    Restart a game?

The ball was out of play when this incident happened, so as said above, free kick for the original foul is to be awarded. You can never reverse a free kick (it's not rugby!)
