    Abandoned match

This game reminded me of an earlier thread too. Goal keeper handled outside area and the defending team tried to convince me it was an IDFK lol. They’ll try anything!

Aye. Thought so. I don’t suppose it’ll affect the end result. Thanks for the reply.

    Abandoned match

Hi guys. Yesterday one of my games was 4 x 20 min quarters and with about 12 mins to go in the match a player went down. Once the ball was out of play I got the coach on etc and the player was in a lot of pain. He was carried off and he was subbed. I restarted play We played on for a few...

    Strong Gale

Goal kicks took a while lol. I said to use common sense and play it if it’s being blown if not too ridiculous. Very scary airport. Had a landing aborted there once- new pants please!

    Strong Gale

High winds this afternoon next to Leeds airport for my matches. Never seen a ball kicked so far! Lol

    Parents

We were instructed on our course never to engage with parents. The home team has the responsibility and if they don’t act they are ‘failing to control spectators’. If the crowd are giving abuse to children and you find it unacceptable then you really need to tell the home manager and explain...

    Challenging match.

Great stuff. Thanks. I’ll do that next time. I did a girls U16 match the other week and they had quite a few questions but they were genuine questions through not knowing the laws as well as perhaps they should. They accepted what I said and moved on. I’ll defo get both captains in next...

    Challenging match.

Thanks for the reply. With regards to the question, they aren’t doing anything wrong really; just annoying me. How would you deal with that? Most of them were actually polite when asking questions. Yeah, the F off was just a final straw really. I didn’t see it as INOFFABUS, gave a yellow...

    Challenging match.

Hi guys. Had my most challenging game so far yesterday and wondered if you could give me a few pointers. It was a college league game so the players were between 16 and 18. Both teams constantly were holding, pushing and committing niggly fouls. Some I let go if possession was kept...

50-50 ref! (Tottenham - Cardiff RC)

I agree with you on this one for sure. Can understand red card if ref thought it was violent conduct etc but for me it’s yellow for SPA. Defo not a kick. Just a moronic challenge that invited the red card rather than a shirt pull or something. The defenders decision making needs questioning...

    Parents

The key thing to remember is not to engage with those spectators yourself. That is most definitely not your job and you’ve no control over parents etc. Also, remember to put in a report about it afterwards if it’s not dealt with to a way you’re happy with.

    Parents

No. Have a word with home team manager and ask him to sort them out. It’s their responsibility.

50-50 ref! (Tottenham - Cardiff RC)

I agree. And if it was 40 yards from play it would obv be violent conduct. But- think about how much contact and from what. No studs touching the player. He’s done it to stop a promising attack. It’s very stupid- he should have just pulled his shirt. He deserves the red for being a moron lol

50-50 ref! (Tottenham - Cardiff RC)

He’s not. He’s saying that he wouldn’t give SFP if the ball closer, so won’t give VC in this case

    Call-off a game

Oh right. We were told we didn’t have to lol. Weird how it varies so much across counties.

50-50 ref! (Tottenham - Cardiff RC)

In that case, then, it would come down to how much force was used and if the ref thought it was excessive, surely? It’s very subjective.

    Call-off a game

That’s cool. But that’s a choice. He was asking if he had to. That’s all.

50-50 ref! (Tottenham - Cardiff RC)

I don’t see it working like that. It’s cleaely worse than both of those things but the punishments for those is in the laws and as a ref, if I don’t interpret that that be violent then I’m not sending off for VC. As there’s no middle ground between yellow and red, it’s going to have the same...
