    Most costly dismissal.

The reason I say or not is that I wasn't restricting it to 'just your own calls'. I.e. as an assistant or spectator also Still flabbergasted at the guy's moment of stupidity a whole week later!

    Most costly dismissal.

What dismissal have you seen or issued? Correct or not? Last week's game got me thinking about this sort of scenario. Last 16 of the local area senior cup. Home mainly older first team against away young full of running reserves. Approaching half time home side 3-1 up and have a corner. Home...

    What an idiot....

Quite simply as a referee- Do your job! I have a fearsome reputation, particularly on dissent, and that is due to banging a caution in for small bits of backchat and sending all cards in. Failure to submit cautions and send offs result in you being seen as a softie and potentially all hell...

Will my age count against me?

No limits officially but as you get older your 'discouraged' from progressing. I doubt at 37 whether I'd get promoted to level 4 but you never know!

Giving an away team penalty in the dying moments

Absolutely! Be confident in your own opinion and ability to handle the game. I had a similar situation in a cup tie a few years back, and to make matters worse the manager was known as being one of the most abusive in the league. Thankfully he started to complain and I threatened to report him...

    Weird one

I suppose it all depends on the game and how it's going. If the game is horrible and one or both teams are giving constant grief then bang off he goes. If it's a sensible game and not loads has been happening then call player over, very public dressing down and big downward scissors in the hope...

    Tactical Fouls

Tbh you very rarely get a shouter but by cautioning you open a can of worms as you would then have to caution every player who shouts something disagreeable!

    Best advantages you've played

I refereed a midweek AstroTurf 11 a side game on Wednesday night. One of the goals scored was quite possibly the one of the best advantages I have ever given. In the centre circle the home skipper was clattered from behind but not before flicking on to a team mate. Out of the corner of my eye I...

    Open Age Ball thrower

Agree with regal. Players, particularly in adult football, will always look to get others sent off

    4th min red card

Yes but you have to do your job. Not sending the player off means you put yourself in a terrible position of being able to be manipulated

    4th min red card

No one likes those sending offs but you can very easily lose match control because of those decisions. I had one of those last month and knew the player had to go. Most will accept it if your are confident in your decision making.

    Really enjoyable game today!!!!!

Two teams I know well. Both very good sets of lads so well done. Trust me when I say that they are not all that easy in this league

    Me and my big mouth!

It was violent conduct. Usually CARs are either subs or club officials generally but regardless of that he is still representing his club so in my eyes he is a club official.

    Me and my big mouth!

Sounds mostly spot on but two things - 1) I hope the CAR is being reported for violent conduct? And 2) If the mass confrontations were bad enough report both sides for failing to control their players. If the blue manager was out of order there is scope to report him but not worthwhile given...

    Fastest sending off ever

72 seconds for violent conduct is my quickest. I believe a Hampshire ref holds the official record of 3 seconds which was a two footed lunge straight into one of the two players taking the kick off

How about a 'Go watch a Refchat ref' month?

If there is anyone who wants to hit the south coast for a scenic view then by all means watch me. But be warned when I'm being watched I rarely finish with 22!

    Boring assesment game

Pleased to be proven wrong. Only disappointment would be that due to it being a one sided game it probably dragged your mark down a touch I.e. Less chance to prove your skills!

    Penalty?

It sounds clear cut and correct. Maybe if you cautioned the GO it may have helped 'sell' the decision to all but not completely necessary.

    Junior/Youth One of those games

Agree and echo the points made above but would add that at any and every point in the game you MUST have 100% confidence in your game almost bordering arrogant e and for me in those types of games be prepared to caution serial moaners for dissent as early as possible. As for coaches tell them...
