    FA Cup 3rd Round

Being a big heed fan (Gateshead for those not in the know) i'm delighted with tonight's draw. 1st time in the 3rd round in 60 years and we have West Brom away. Anyone else follow any of the 'minnows' still in the cup this year?

    how to cope with cold

If you're doing a junior game there's often parents selling cups of tea that can be sought out at half time if you're quick and sneaky about it ;)

How do I get school fixtures?

If you are referring to primary age and below (U12) then in my experience they almost exclusively have an internal ref, qualified or not. Cheaper that way. I do all of the games for the school where I work.

You're In The Wrong... But I Dont Know How...

Had this in my game last Sunday. Attacker standing directly in front of the 'keeper as he's lining up the wall. I'm expecting him to move before the kick is taken but he stays there, keeper makes a good save and turns it behind anyway. I blow for the offside as the ball is coming through and the...

    Thought's? Silly Boy

This sums up the issue perfectly. Well said.

    Lengthy delay

A good point. This one was as 'definitely' in as can be, if you draw a line from the centre of the goal through the penalty spot and to the centre circle you could have put myself and the 'keeper on it with the ball travelling almost parallel to it. Perfect view to judge really. Goalkeeper...

    Lengthy delay

Thanks @RegalRef, as it happens I have experienced nasty injuries needing an ambulance as a player and I've done the FA Emergency First Aid course recently as a player so I felt a bit prepared and vaguely knew what to do. Still, very frightening though. Re: the sending off, I agree with...

    Sound advice, cheers!

    Lengthy delay

Beezer, in hindsight perhaps a caution for the 'keeper would have sufficed despite it clearly being DOGSO. Perhaps my inexperience showing there. I'm chalking today down as a tough game for my 5th ever one!

    handball is an offence ref!

I learnt today that it is ok for a 'keeper to catch the ball outside of his area as long as he 'thought he was inside the area'.

    Lengthy delay

It was actually 7-1 by this point, which made it even more of a strange thing to say.

    Lengthy delay

Blues v Greens this morning. Match starts well, competitive spirit but nothing dirty. 3 early goals make it 2-1 to blues. With 13 mins played, free kick awarded to greens close to the edge of blues penalty area. Before it's taken, at the halfway line, green player goes down, obviously...

Open Age First Open Age game

Having just started reffing, and only having done a couple of OA games, I can't comment too much, but what @DaveMac says rings true to my advice (in life in general really), be confident and believe in yourself right from the start. Pretend you've done 100 OA games already and don't think...

    Referee assaulted in West Riding

http://www.harrogateadvertiser.co.uk/sport/football/sunday-league-match-abandoned-after-referee-punched-by-player-in-wetherby-1-6968798 http://www.westridingfa.com/news/2014/nov/in-response-to-serious-incident Horrible to see this, especially as it's just down the road from me. I've done a...

    What an idiot....

The league I used to play in up until last season, won't name names here but basically your bog standard sunday league football in Newcastle, from my experience cards were very rarely submitted. That was certainly the case in the bottom couple of divisions. I remember wondering what was the...

    AR fixtures

Thanks guys, I'd already emailed my RDO this afternoon looking to get in at Bradford City Academy so hopefully i'm on the right track. Was meaning to go to the local RA last Monday but was snowed under with work, next time though.

    AR fixtures

I know I'm only level 9 at the moment (2 games left out of 6) but after reading a few threads on here I'm curious as to how this works, how people end up receiving AR fixtures in higher leagues? Do you declare an interest to the league as an AR or do they simply thumb through the county handbook...

    :( Balls :(

Mine was on, JUST, this morning. Had to spend 20 minutes chipping in with the pitchfork and the pitch was in a terrible state after it. Sadly the second one this afternoon had worse luck.

    Vegetarianism

My lass tends to do most of the cooking as I am definitely not skilled in that department! Some of my personal favourites though: Aubergine Parmigiana http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetables-recipes/aubergine-parmigiana-melanzane-alla-parmigiana/ Butternut squash risotto (works just as...
