Referee NAR Briefing for Youth Academy Games: U13-U16

MarcusSurreyRef submitted a new resource: Referee NAR Briefing for Youth Academy Games: U13-U16 - Pre-match briefing with NARs for youth academy games. My pre-match chat with captains at academy level is this: “I expect you, as captains, to manage the behaviour of your team. If that does not...

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Totally agree, that’s why these forums and alike are so useful for new and more experienced refs as they teach you so much about what you just weren’t made aware of in courses or CPD events. But to be far to CFA’s in 10 hours they can’t teach you everything When did you take your course. They...

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Mind you, I have just had an email from the man who appointed my games saying he thinks I did the right thing and would have done the same, and the manager said it was more of a push than a punch. I was directly in front of it with perfect view and can say it was more of a punch, may not have...

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Thanks so much James, really helpful. I now feel a lot more secure about giving cards, I think they need to talk about these obscure topics more on the referee courses because I felt like I was just left in the dark about where to begin! I’ll let you all know of my next major incident and check...

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Thanks everyone. Really helpful info that is beneficial in my opinion in improving as soon as I can, because I am not in this for the money. I partially agree with bits of replies saying that what would I think if I was in the victim’s shoes or a parent on the sideline, but at U12 I just feel...

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Just linking to my earlier post about a punch at U12 that I didn’t give a RC for as I felt it would be better that they be subbed off. Other forum members have now helpfully changed my view

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Perfect. I agree with what you guys have said and will give a red next time. For future: what is an extraordinary match report given for? I haven’t had to give any cautions or reds(!!) so haven’t needed to submit a match report on WholeGame, let alone an extraordinary one.

Junior/Youth What to submit extraordinary match report for/punch at U12

Hi all, I have never had to do what says in the title, so therefore is why I’m asking. U12 boys match. Simple free kick given for a basic foul. Then player who was fouled punched the person who fouled him. My view was that for U12 it is less about giving cautions and red cards and more about...

    What did he get right……

If I am not mistaken, RC for VC for keeper and YC for AAA for opponent in purple and DFK/PK depending on where the offence occurred. It can’t be dropped ball as shown and even if it was, the referee has applied it incorrectly and ball should be released from referee’s hands

    Referee Patches

Hi everyone, may be a really basic question but does everyone just iron/heat press on their league/county badges onto their ref top? It’s what I have done, but only recently am I noticing stitching and the badge material coming apart, making the badge look a little scruffy. Are there any Velcro...

    Remembering who you have booked

Totally agree with this, player positions helps me as well and don’t just rely on numbers. I just gave some tips on how to avoid messing up your bookings with the book if the pouring rain is a factor

    Remembering who you have booked

Write-on card stickers helps for recording numbers, and very easy to have a look. Or you can just DIY by getting some tape and sticking onto the yellow card. I have found refsix to be very good with cautions, but I know others don’t agree as it can be a bit fiddly and may look unprofessional...

U10 West Mids game parents fighting

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4ge1zl7vkro From what I’ve read, this is unbelievably…unbelievable! I hope all the children playing are safe and not injured. Birmingham FA have not commented yet, I assume while they conduct an investigation

New rule throw ins for u9

You choose whether to kick it in or dribble it in, so the player can legally dribble then shoot. This thread will clarify: https://refchat.co.uk/threads/pass-or-dribble-in-law-mini-soccer.23986/

New rule throw ins for u9

This is allowed. The player has a choice whether to dribble or do a kick in. The player can technically do this but a focus of this rule is to improve players’ technical ability so you will probably see most coaches wanting players to dribble and pass instead of shooting.

    Kit clash

The referee’s name is Stacey Pearson. She is a FIFA WSL and National League referee and since the Truro v Dorking game she has officiated 2 games in the NL N/S, most recent being 20th Aug (10 days after Truro game) So while she has made a huge error of judgement in the kit clash incident, I...

Hi @Samuel . I was at a county FA event a few weeks ago, and we covered this in brief detail. I wonder if the two images attached will be of any help to you?

U15 AR for an U16 game

A few weeks ago, I was appointed to an academy U13 game as a lino. I am 15 btw. Unfortunately when I arrived at the ground I was informed the game was cancelled, but they were missing an AR for the U15 game. Because of my age, I wouldn’t usually be able to do that game, but the RDO at the ground...
