    Aches and Pains

As i have mentioned before i am huge advocate of the ice bath or my alternative just a bath filled only with the cold tap. Sit in this for 15 minutes and it will work wonders. When your numbness kicks in the the blood flow is reduced to that area, when they recover and the blood flow increases...

    Hard Tackles

So if he wipes him out with possession of the ball its a foul and without its not. That's a new on on me i must admit. Is the point not that he wiped him out? Of course red is going to go for the ball but how you can say its red's fault is beyond me. Should it be a blue free kick??

    Push in the back ref

Hmmmm still not entirely sure i agree. I know exactly where you are coming from i just dont think this is the correct scenario to apply that method. I also wouldn't want players not committing fouls because they realise that every slight touch is going to be a foul. Regardless of level of...

    Push in the back ref

You have completely missed my point, at no point have i said don't give a push, i said that 99% of shouts for a push in the back are not fouls.

    Push in the back ref

I see where your coming from but i wouldn't give this advice for this particular offence/scenario. As someone mentioned earlier on you give one you have to give them all and you will be blowing your whistle every 30 seconds.

    Push in the back ref

Sorry i am struggling to understand your logic here, why does your level of experience determine how many push in the back shouts you give free kicks for? Why do players know where you as an experienced ref has drawn the line but not SH who has only done 12 games? It is probably the most...

    Hard Tackles

Your interpretation of this is absolutely bonkers!! Red is running down the line, blue comes in and completely wipes him out but that is reds fault??

    Hard Tackles

This is the kind of tackle that we see from yesteryear from the likes of Norman Hunter, Billy Bremner and later Graeme Souness and Vinnie Jones and whenever we do we take a sharp intake of breath and say something like, how did they used to get away with tackles like that??

    Hard Tackles

We are watching the same clip aren't we? The red player has tripped himself??? Really?? Whilst i agree he wins the ball and back in the day that is a good hard tackle. However, if a player comes in at that speed with that force then its a foul and a minimum or a caution. How can you say that...

What @Padfoot said, the ball is irrelevant.

    Winter clothing

Fellow baldy here but i would rather freeze to death than wear a hat. May sound stupid but rub some baby oil into you napper before you go out, another fellow baldy gave me that advice a while back and it works a treat!

    EFL structure

Whilst they make a fair point it just wont be worth it for the likes of SKY and BT to get involved. Yes they can put Leeds v Middlesborough or Villa v West Brom on and get a decent audience, but with all due respect will those people tune in for Rotherham v Preston??

Not refereeing per se, but involves a report

I cannot be certain on this but i would presume it would be heard by a separate panel that heard the first one, an appeals panel. They are therefore impartial. No it would not go to UEFA. Appealing an appeal is not going to end well.

    Players shirts

I agree with @RustyRef on this, especially on the PI and cautions. I assisted a ref last season and they made a sub and the players swapped shirts. I stuck my flag up to call the ref over and informed him that the player coming on had swapped his shirt with the player coming off and was now...

    Double caution for dissent

What makes me laugh most about this is the standing ovation he gets from the fans. If my keeper got sent off for something so stupid the last thing i would be doing is clapping him off the pitch........embarrassing!!!

    Game management 😡

They stand on the same side as when they tried them on the other side the referees said they were off putting as they are not expecting to see someone on that side so it caused a distraction.

    Mentoring

Personally i would never give advice while the match is going on but by all means at half time and full time. I would allow the referee to do his/her job as if i am not there. If things got really out of hand then i may step in but it would take a lot for me to do that. The fact you haven't...

    First assessment

@QuaverRef when you say marked down, where these in your observation report or mentioned in the de-brief as things to think about? As others have said, ignore the "dont tell players how longs left", absolute rubbish. If you dont tell them then you will be the ref that no one can talk to. Sort...
