    Verbal Unsporting Behaviour?

I'd rather get the decision right first time :)

    Dealing with anxiety

I've done that, but only once! Running around in a temperature of 1c with iPhone in my hand, as the battery died and my hand froze in position wasn't fun. As for the OP, would being an AR for a period of time help? Do you suffer less anxiety if you're the AR? Could be an option if it helps...

That seems quite unfair on us English :)

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

Seems like a case of trying to protect their own! A clear mistake was made, perhaps understandable given the emotion of the moment and rather than just admitting it was a mistake, they came out with a ridiculous statement trying to justify it.

    1st game recap

In my experience and opinion (others have differing views) over communication is better than under communication. Talking to players (not in an arrogant way "I am the law / I'm always right", but in a respectful way) and managers if necessary, goes a long way to getting respect and match...

    1st game recap

Oh I'm sure, but I've seen it used by a lot of PL referees in games, so..........

    1st game recap

Sounds like you were right to send the player off, no doubt there. With regards to seeing fists fly but not knowing who it was, I agree that you should call the captain over and talk to them. Given the size of the conflict, I would've called both managers and captains over and made it clear why...

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

And if anyone should be sent off by the logic given for the red card, it's Aurier not Son!!

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

Think you're giving me too much credit there! My point is, you can't "upgrade" a yellow card to red card because of the injury that happens after the foul, otherwise the same should apply in reverse no? And where does it stop? Do you now upgrade non fouls to fouls if one party is hurt in a fair...

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

So if no injury had occurred and Gomes had got up and walked away, would the yellow card have been downgraded to just a FK since he didn't endanger the safety of a player?

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

Theoretically every single challenge endangers the safety of a player. You can’t base cards on the outcome of randomness. Hell even some players endanger themselves, so should they be sent off?

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

So they’re now saying it was a red for endangering the safety of a player. Well endangering is not based on the outcome, so now every challenge like that needs to be a red surely? I’m afraid Atkinson has reacted to the severity of the injury, which is horrific and they’re doubling down rather...

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

But you can’t base your decision on the injury, otherwise why wasn’t Aurier sent off?

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

100%! Have you seen the replay? The challenge is not worthy of a red card. You can’t change your decision because of an unfortunate collision after the foul

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

How is that a red card? Son gets booked and then because Gomes gets severely injured it turns into s red? That is awful refereeing

VAR - Everton vs Spurs Son “penalty”

Just wondering if I’m the only one who thought that was stonewall? How is that not a penalty? Mina slips but then tumbles and slides into Son, making contact and tripping him. Certainly seemed a penalty in my eyes

    VAR Farce

For me VAR seems to have got it wrong from the beginning. Shouldn’t it be there for the ref to say they didn’t have a clear view of an incident and would like to see it again / want assistance on something? IE VAR to be initiated by the on field referee, not the other way round. Just seems...

    Feedback on two issues/errors

I’ve disagreed with two things, that’s hardly almost everything is it. So this is a place where you can only post if you agree 100% with a few active posters and you’re not allowed to have different opinions? And having a difference of opinion is reportable, but insults and belittling is OK?
