    ‘Only asking a question’

Really simple - they ask a question, they get an answer, the moment they then try to turn it into a debate is the moment it gets shut down.

    6-5 Standard expected

Typically if you are doing double jump you have to get your 20 games and observations in within the first half of the season, then you start again with the second set of games and observations. It really doesn't matter whether you get something saying 'congrats you are a L6' in the middle of...

And don't forget to use the 'closed dates' function on MOAS, it's actually quite good!

    Forest Green V Mansfield

Problem is that once everyone gets there for the match, as a referee the pressure is really on you to try to get the game on. Fog is a pain as well, because unlike a waterlogged or frozen pitch, it can easily make a fool out of you. You postpone before kick off and half an hour later it's...

    Coping with getting it wrong

Best thing to remember, 1 bad decision or even game doesn't make you a bad referee, likewise a good decision or game doesn't make you a good referee. Acknowledge the error, log it in the memory banks and move on. Guarantee you won't do it again!

    "First" game "back"

Local derby with some serious bad blood between fans (not players). Away teams 'ultras' were responsible. Was also one of the biggest games in both sides history, the home side had never made the Vase 5th round and the away side only once in their history.

    Yes that's what I said.... 😉

The missed caution on the advantage was for a reckless challenge right? If he tries to do you for a promising attack then he'd be incorrect in law. 😉

    Public School Reffing

I've done a few public school games. Did one a few years back where the away team player slides in and recklessly fouls the home team skipper. I blow the whistle and get the player over and he says "I'm terribly sorry sir, that was a really badly timed tackle" followed by "thank you, sir" when...

A spectator threw this onto the pitch during my game today.

    "First" game "back"

Home side (Step 5) won 2-0 v one of their local rivals (Step 6). Both sides good as gold and an amazing atmosphere, it's a small ground and they got over 850 in through the gate.

    "First" game "back"

Not too cold today and I know both teams pretty well and have a good relationship with them both, so should be too bad. Now watch me have jinxed it and it be WW3 out there! 🤣

    "First" game "back"

Hope it's not too cold here in Hampshire tomorrow. I'm 4th official for a Vase game and it's can be a chilly old job!

    "First" game "back"

I get what I'm given through MOAS for my main fixtures based on my open dates. Outside of that, I have a couple of appointment secretaries that will offer me games around that availability and I take them more often than not, usually only turn them down if I've got a good reason to. Could be a...

How was everyone’s first game back

First middle of the year last night in the local senior cup competition. Pitch was playable but very soft and cut up like crazy. Home side put a strong team out, away team played mostly a development side as they are playing in the vase 4th round Saturday and didn't want to risk players. Home...

    "First" game "back"

My game went early today, I was looking at a 2 hour each way, 150 mile round trip, so was glad that a decision was made before I'd needed to get there. Our whole league with 2 divisions had 3 games on, 2 on 4G and 1 on grass, with the grass game being abandoned at half time.

    Foul Counts per Team

Yep also if you have 2 teams where one is clearly better than the other, they tend to be fitter, faster and stronger as well as more technically capable, so many of the challenges are not 50-50's they are more 60-40 or 70-30's meaning that fouls go more in their favour.

Eastleigh v Weymouth - Red Card

When I get something like this, I always do my Sherlock Holmes impression and whittle down the options. So there are 7 red card offences - let's discard SFP, Spitting and the 2 Dogso's. Let's also discard a second caution for the time being. That leaves OFFINABUS or VC. You could argue that...
