    Kent cup ref highlits

I think the Blue should have gone for grabbing the neck when there was a red for second yellow at 23:00 Side note: How does a "football youtuber" not know the sin bin yellow law change by now?

Missed stamp - Laverstock v Portland

Portland United in the news again... Not sure how no officials saw this stamp, or at least the afters?

Ladies Managing dissent or losing my rag?

For context I did have NARs, the two times I interacted with the bench I was very close by so didn't 'go over' so to speak. If I had run over I would be issuing a caution but obviously, with the benefit of hindsight, it shouldn't make a huge difference. I found what I did worked, and in the...

Ladies Managing dissent or losing my rag?

Probably the best laying out of a stepped approach I’ve ever seen and I’ll be applying this in future. Thank you!

Ladies Managing dissent or losing my rag?

Had Womens game this afternoon, couple of interactions with the away bench. 1. Usual calls for push in the back, one right in front of me, I briefly explain to the appealing bench that there’s a difference between a hand on someone and a push. They’re convinced any hand contact is a foul...

    IFAB Law Changes for 2025/26

It's totally right to clamp down on this, but at grassroots they're sometimes just old, overweight or in my case disabled. 8 seconds isn't as long as it seems when you've just jumped for the ball and hit the floor afterwards, chances are there are still players in the box!

    IFAB Law Changes for 2025/26

As a former GK this change will suck. Any referee who starts the 8 seconds with me still on the floor after a catch from a shot or a corner, likely with players still stood around me, is going to force me to rush or punish me for not doing so. The ambiguousness around when the 8 seconds...

    Fawley v Ash United

I had a team paying players in County women's footy last season! I should change my linkedin!

    Fawley v Ash United

More importantly, "semi-pro"? could start a whole thread on when a ref (if ever) becomes semi-pro! DOGSO for me

    IFAB Law Changes for 2025/26

The issue with the 8 seconds is when does it start? When the keeper stands after making a save/catch? When they first gather the ball?

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

The comment was made in the context of this post, if you cannot put things in context then I don’t know what to do here. Do you need me to copy and paste the OP before every comment?

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

No, relate it to the OP, the ball is long gone and I’m not challenging for it.

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

Why are you allowed to swing a kick but not a punch?

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

"Attempts" and "regardless of whether contact is made" is doing some lifting for a red card imo If the ball is gone and you slide in to wipe someone out that's no different to kicking their legs out from under them, you're just using a footballing action to disguise it

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

So if someone swings a punch and misses you’re booking them?

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

If I stand next to a player, and as he kicks the ball away I swing my foot at him but pull out at the last minute or slow down to make minimal contact. Justify showing me a yellow card plz

    Getafe Vs Real Betis

Making a footballing action just to hurt someone is just a way of trying to hide violent conduct. Like driving your car into someone and claiming you're just popping to the shops.

    Football now vs past

My first game was Brighton v Bournemouth in League one back in 2011. My last was Brighton v AEK Athens last season. Standard is far better!

    Al Nassr v Al Ettifaq

Lack of dissent caution for Ronaldo is poor imo. But you cannot and should not strike an opponents head or you risk a red card

    Everton vs Man Utd

This is basically my take. As a player I know shirts get grabbed all the time as you jostle for the ball, it's unavoidable. But a grab and a pull that impacts the player are worlds apart and I do not believe any of the contact impacted Young, let alone justify that jump to the floor. Yellow for...
