    Team sheet

My main league is a carbon copy paper version that must be given to the officials and opposition at least 15 mins before KO. Another league I have done used emails and they had to be received by the referee no later than 20 mins before KO

    CHE - PSG

Being the statto/info freak that I am 😂, I can't help but point out that in the 1955-56 European Cup, not only were teams invited rather than qualifying (only 7/16 actually won their leagues), Chelsea were forced to pull out by the Football League, so with that specific competition the attitude...

    County Refereeing Development Groups

Definitely shouldn’t be too hard if you’re of good general fitness and not injured. Just slowly working myself back up to full fitness that’s all. Turns out I can’t make it anyway because I’m flying out to Tunisia an hour after it’s supposed to finish, which is unfortunate timing. Have spoken to...

    County Refereeing Development Groups

I must admit, when I first started refereeing I was one of those people that thought reffing to get fit was a good idea. Post injury number 1 in October, my attitude shifted to get fit to referee. I'm maintaining that level now, and slowly getting more and more intense (particularly post major...

    County Refereeing Development Groups

Thanks James. I must admit having 15 days' notice isn't ideal, especially if a fitness test may be involved when I was out injured for a total of 4 months across 24-25. Nevertheless, I'll give it all I've got. I must admit I was surprised to receive an invite considering I have a grand total of...

    County Refereeing Development Groups

Hi all, I had an email from my RDO today inviting me to an assessment evening to potentially join the Refereeing Development Group. Anyone have any idea what exactly this is/might be? I was also told the evening would contain match-based practical and embedded laws of the game assessments. With...

    Klopp- Club World Cup

As many have rightly pointed out, greed has a lot to do with this (although I will agree that it's not everything to do with it). As Rusty points out - less games = less money. If I ref 3 games in a week for £60, I make £180. If I choose to only referee 2, I can't possibly justify the same fee...

    Klopp- Club World Cup

Think you mean the EFL/Vertu Trophy? That's open to 16 PL U21 sides and the L1/L2 teams. And the same for the National League Cup (albeit that's open to NL clubs rather than L1/L2).

    Fitness test locations - July

I am one of those people that really doesn't care as long as it's cold 😂 I was on the line in January on a sub zero day with short sleeves. I wonder why people think I'm mental. Good luck to all doing fitness tests!

    IFAB Law Changes for 2025/26

I actually raised this at my local RA meeting last month. Consensus there was most would stick it in the pre-match talk with the captains (and coaches if/where applicable) that the ref, and the ref only, would count otherwise they'd be looking at sanctions if it happened too much. Soundedd...

    Corner warnings

I tend to give them a loud shout at the first corner “nothing stupid or l might have a decision to make one way or the other”. Given either a pen or fk twice after as a result and in both of those games there was no more holding at corners so it worked. When it carries on I don’t normally give...

Ref of the Year Interfering With Div 6

Having actually re-read it now - how did I miss that? 😂🙄

Ref of the Year Interfering With Div 6

I doubt that as he is still an active referee in the Swedish top flight and on the FIFA list (and UEFA Elite), and he's only 36 so still has plenty of time.

    Promotion fees

I believe it’s similar with Birmingham. Same as what we paid originally if we are rolling over to this season, if we’re starting fresh then it’s a higher fee.

    Penalty Kick 'Double-Touches' Clarification

Agreed. Retaking when scored = fair enough. IDFK when missed? That's punishing the accident! Why not just let play continue (or restart with whatever outcome occurred eg goal kick)? Unless of course the attacking team retain possession, in which case maybe the IDFK is acceptable.

    Penalty Kick 'Double-Touches' Clarification

Common sense prevails for a change. Much needed change after the Atletico farce this season (match officials did the only thing they could, but the Laws needed changing after that!)

    Promotion dates L4 and above

This is something I find quite interesting actually. I would agree that this is the most sensible way to go about things at 7-5. However, my CFA did send me emails at the end of 3 out of the 4 quarters this season, giving updates on how much of the criteria I had already met (how many games...

    tournaments fees - again

I agree with Rusty. Although I would decline such a fee, that is a personal choice rather than something that everyone should be expected to do. I tend to decline the majority of tournaments anyway even if paid generously as I've found from my own experience they are a great opportunity to give...
