The Ref Stop

Norway Vs England

The Ref Stop
Long time reader, first time poster. Seeing as I'm from Norway I am of course biased in some of these decisions. I was just wondering if your broadcoast showed the controversy before the English goal.

Nyland takes a goal kick which hits the wire above the ground stopping the ball well short of the expected landing place and England goes straight in attack. I'm quite sure VAR doesn't have a protocol for what I would think would be a dropped ball, but seemed like a bad miss for the refereeing team.
Interesting to hear! They haven’t mentioned that at all on our TV!

He got up quicker than most though. I dont understand why he stopped it though.
Thought he was giving a free kick.
Irrelevant. Has to go off as soon as he stops play due to an injury.
Would've only been for 10 seconds anyway, time doesn't carry over in to next period m

Apparently fifa have said the ball monitor (the same one that showed a spike for the goal that was disallowed for offside in the Portugal Croatia game) didn’t show a spike for the ball hitting a wire

That shouldn’t be overturned. On field decision should stand, regardless of the outcome. I can live with either penalty or no penalty but there is no reason to get involved here.

Aassume you're going to reply similar to everyone else then?
It wasn't blinkered.
Ive been of this opinion on several incidents in all games including against England.

just finding VAR going from forgetting they're there to help to overhelping.
Oh take your blinkers off man.

For me anytime a player UNNATURALLY put there leg across like that and there is contact by the defender who has not attempted to challenge for the ball then it's definately not a penalty. The attacker clearly instigates that contact.

Well done VAR because I hate this type of cheating and would hate if England was on the wrong side of such a decision.

I’ll say this now. @Jalli_K will know whom I’m talking about, but even though I’m a big fan of the Striking Viking Jorn Lande, who performed the official Norway song for this tournament, but I really hope he ends tonight proud but disappointed.

I don’t think the Spence penalty is a penalty, but I do think it’s close enough for VAR to not get involved. But can’t complain too much

I'll be honest I have no idea why the ref even given it, it looked so unnatural and I was amazed when he pointed the to the spot.

I think the game needs to clamp down on this and not just back the referee because there is contact. The only reason why there was contact is because the England player instigates it with an unnatural movement.

Also this arguement of protecting the ball, why would you be protecting the ball when you been running to goal and trying to shoot? Just don't buy that argument.
