The Ref Stop

Norway Vs England

The Ref Stop
I don’t think the Spence penalty is a penalty, but I do think it’s close enough for VAR to not get involved. But can’t complain too much

I'll be honest I have no idea why the ref even given it, it looked so unnatural and I was amazed when he pointed the to the spot.

I think the game needs to clamp down on this and not just back the referee because there is contact. The only reason why there was contact is because the England player instigates it with an unnatural movement.

Also this arguement of protecting the ball, why would you be protecting the ball when you been running to goal and trying to shoot? Just don't buy that argument.

Thanks for letting me know, but based on the video footage you wouldn't need to use technology to see that something weird was going on...
This isn’t confirmed btw, just what someone told me they’d said!

Hard luck tonight! You acquitted yourselves incredibly well. Was billed as Kane vs Haaland and neither turned up on the night. But fortunately we have a Jude and he just about made the difference!

Quite disappointed with the officials. Maybe the heat was a factor for Turpin.

Couple of wrong offsides, a lot of missed fouls, several incorrect KMIs, rerefereeing with selective arbitrary forensics… turned his back on play missing the “foul”’on Kane, looked sluggish generally…

But the thing i hated most… what is the point of introducing counts for GKs and TIs if you then allow players to delay the game by kicking the ball away. I get it, the refs have been told not to card, but joking with the Norway captain twice about it, and not even bothering warning players from both sides … argh… presents so badly… and is rubbish for us at grassroots.

(Jed Spence I salute you!)

LOL @ ITV interviewer getting owned by Tuchel for his BS questions.
Likewise the Bellingham answer.

If only our politicians could answer like that - straight up honesty and not taking the bait, but throwing straight back at them.

Some Norwegians wanted a penalty on this one seeing how you aren't allowed to push someone inside the box... I would say normally that it is too soft as well, but it is hard to claim that Haaland pushed much harder at least.
I think the England goal, with the wire, and the disallowed goal (more on the lack of consistency across the whole game of football) are the biggest complaints atm though.

It is so cleary visible that the ball hits something, but unfortunately FIFA is FIFA, so I don't expect any explanation. Nyland has a tendency to upset modern technology though seeing as he managed fool goal line technology for Aston Villa a few years back as well...
I've seen two videos of this, one shows absolutely no evidence of the ball hitting a cable and moving, the other shows a clear change in direction of the ball. They can't both be right so I can only assume a case of fake AI here.

Always good to be careful about things you see online, but I'm hoping that the main Norwegian tv-channels hasn't fallen prey for AI...

For me there’s a big difference in this.
Yes there’s a bit of a push here but it is as part of a challenge for the ball, where as Haaland clearly pushed Anderson with 2 hands not as any part of any challenge.
Anderson probably could have stayed standing, but in a world of VAR they didn’t have much choice

There was a field goal in the NFL last season in which one angle made it look like the ball 100% hit the camera wire but other angles eventually showed the wire was no where near the path of the kick. I'm willing to keep my mind open that nothing actually happened despite the path of the ball looking strange.

Why did we see absolutely no movement in the line before or after the spike allegedly caused by the hair 'touch' in the offside one? In this goal kick trace it's wobbling all over the place after the ball has been kicked.
