They only delay if the adverts on Fox aren't finishedDid anyone else just spot that the AR2 Hadn’t made it back to his line when play restarted after the water break?![]()
They only delay if the adverts on Fox aren't finished
I know it is fun to make fun of Fox, but I am aware of absolutely no evidence that remotely suggests Fox had anything to do with the breaks. Fox had its contract already--it got the contract for this WC as part of the change in when the last one was going to be after they had signed the contract for that. And with hindsight they way underpaid. So Fox had no leverage to have commercials added, and FIFA, feeling it had a really bad deal with Fox, had no incentive to do something nice for Fox. From all available evidence, this is all on FIFA--perhaps with an eye to selling the rights next time. They only delay if the adverts on Fox aren't finished
In one game the match delegate was seen instructing the officials to delay while looking at an iPad/tablet. I naturally assumed it was something to do with commercials but I stand corrected if not (or maybe it just wasn't Fox). These "hydration" breaks are doing my head in though. In the LOTG, drinks breaks are 1 minute, and cooling breaks 1.5 to 3. If they're going to force utter nonsense, they could at least use the correct terminology.I know it is fun to make fun of Fox, but I am aware of absolutely no evidence that remotely suggests Fox had anything to do with the breaks. Oh, and they don't wait for Fox. In the opening game, Fox missed the restarts after the water break.

Top referee, excellent decision. We don’t need VAR on this incident, the referee made the correct decision. Certainly a name for the later rounds.
There's a guy (or girl) on the sideline at every single televised game no matter where in the world who tells the referee, often via the 4th official, when they can restart. They are the broadcast company's floor manager, that is part of their job, i.e. to make sure that the game isn't restarted before the broadcast is ready. There was a guy on the sideline telling the referee when he could restart
