Ear moulds

Apologies if this info is already somewhere on the forum and I haven't been able to find it.

Having resisted so far, I think I am finally at the point where I have accepted an ear mould for comms is better than taping my ear up for my AR appointments. Had a very wet and then a very hot game at the end of last season and the tape lost its stickiness both times, which became an unwanted distraction.

Any recommendations on how to go about it much appreciated. I think previously I had heard that mould could be done locally and then sent off to a specialist ?

I'm thinking the same way tbh. Need to get one sorted ASAP.

I have had advice to do it and went to do it before, but I booked an appointment with specsavers for the mould and then when I turned up they told me I would need to book an appointment again...

The advice I had previously was to ask for a 'full shell impression to the second bend of the ear' and then post it to the following:

FAO Jonathan Downey
VOGO UK
Unit J13
Jenson court
Jenson Avenue
Commerce Park
Frome
BA11 2FQ

With a note detailing your address and contact phone number.

I believe the mould is about £20, and then it's about £100+VAT for the ear piece.

BUT... the above info is nearly 3 years out of date, so may be worth verifying.

I have one for the Vokerro Phonak headset - this is the standard one below PL. VOGO are the local dealers. You need an impression from a local audiologist then send that off to VOGO.

Be warned though, not a quick process and VOGO are notoriously slow and poor at communicating. One of our newly promoted ARs enquired a month or so ago and was told it wouldn’t be done in time for the new season so 🫠

If you don’t need the Vokkero connection and just need a standard jack, then Spintso is the way to go. I have both as we use Vokkero comms in the Premier League and RefCom etc below.

Not sure whether it impacts you but the mould won’t fit the Hawkeye comms used in the PL.

I’ve heard of another company that can make one compatible with the vokkero kit and are cheaper than VOGO.
I will check it when I get mine sorted and if successful I’ll post their details on here
