I have just noticed my county registration fees are up by 50% this year - £20 to £30.

Any ideas why such a large rise?

I've not had a 50% pay rise in fees or in any work i have.

No but they have been £20 for the last few years and referee fees have mostly more than doubled since then and the cost of administering the services they give have also substantially increased too. You always have a choice to not register...

You are complaining about £30? I paid AU$250 (about £134) for this season's ref rego, had to fork out another $250 for a mandatory new sponsor referee kit, and anther $108 for working with children check registrations. Thought the kit could last a few years until they change sponsors again and the WWCC lasts 5 years.

Mines £95 this season. £65 to local and £30 to national (unless paid late then it goes to £45).
As mentioned, I can do two games to cover that with the fees involved but the reason the fees shot up is because they took travelling fee away. This particular youth league has sent me in the past 30 miles from home as there are no referees local there. I was one of the closest. The stretch of this league is that the furthest the other direction is about 40 miles away. The teams have it just as rough.
They're all one way. So fuel etc adds up.

They've been £20 for years, and fees have increased a lot since then. I've only been qualified 3 seasons now and my match fees have actually almost doubled in that time. They have to cover their costs somehow. I don't know what my CFA fee is for 26-27 but I know my local RA's fees are up from £10 to 15 for youth refs, and 15 to 25 for over 18s. Again, it's all about covering costs.

As others have said the fees haven’t gone up for many years. 50% is a big jump, but the increase in fees and inflation since the fees were last increased would be more than 50%.

Where are these places where ref fees have doubled?

Our last rise was £30 to £35 7 years ago.

Not in my area of Kent has anything doubled. With petrol allowance being removed they've gone down and the fees have held the same for 7 years with no rise next season.
