With the NLS allocations just released - it won't be log before they confirm the pool numbers and thus release the promotion etc lists..

There is a few sideway's movements and quite a few reprives...

Quorn have been moved laterally and they are not happy - they are intending to appeal. I don’t blame them, though it will be difficult to win it, especially when they have been in the NPL before.

They were in the NPL at Step 4 not Step 3.
Completely different geographically footprints in the Midlands area.

Anstey Nomads newly promoted from NPL Mids Div 1 area 5 miles away.
Suppose it's whether they take a view on the hassle of moving clubs laterally, or just go purely on what the spreadsheet says in terms of mileage.
This decision suggests the later.

True with NPL, though it’s a straight swap with Rushall Olympic who appealed last year from being placed in NPL. It could be argued that Quorn are more northernly that Rushall, but then perhaps Quorn could argue some teams are more north west & therefore closer to Rushall.

It is not likely to be a successful appeal for Quorn as it can only go in their favour if 'no reasonable body could have come to this decision'. But they are likely to know that and it can be more about making their objection clear.

Is there any precedent for teams having successful appeals? If there is, I don't remember it.

Crazy how far the NL North stretches down south, but that's nothing new and is clearly owing to how many Southern step 2 teams there are.

Won appeals are very few and far between, but there have been some eg:

2023/24- Uttoxeter Town were successful in securing a reprieve to remain in the North West Counties League Division One South.

2024/25 - Clapton Community FC successfully appealed their initial placement and were laterally moved from the Southern Counties East League Division One to the Eastern Counties League Division One South.

A few years ago, due to appeals, one Step 6 ended up with 23 teams, and the neighbouring one 17 teams.

More difficult at Step 4 and above as the leagues usually have very strict finite sizes.
