But they've made a rod for their own back by giving red for any impression of a hair tug.
The one earlier this season, on Cucurella I think, was so obvious I fully understood it.
Then a couple went unpunished and no one thought anything of it. Now it seems to be every challenge.
I wouldn't be surprised if teams start buying players with longer hair just to take advantage (and yes this is satire).

That is what most look like.
The DCL one recently, the Brentford one against Fulham.
Camera stills make it look like a tug but it could very much be a trick of the camera/eye making it look that way. Both not given.
Yesterdays one very similar but this time given.
The one by Martinez on DCL you could actually see a proper head back reaction to an actual pull.
 
I am in total agreement that hair pulls should be a red card, but even as a wolves fan, this should never have been a red card.
 
I’m not even sure how you justify a red card in Law for this. No hint of excessive force or deliberate violence.

I'd tend to agree tbh. And if there is an argument for careless, it's definitely nothing more. Even a yellow card here would have been wrong imho.

With a hair pull, it's either a red or no foul. I find it very difficult to understanding how one can justify anything in between.

I am very much in the red camp for hair pull. But it has to have intent as a factor.

EDIT: I have now seen the full replay and changing my mind on this. I dont think it is an accidental hand getting caught in the hair. The 'hold' on the hair started before the OP replay started and it went for a considerable duration. Basically there was ample opportunity to let go of it.

This is on the referee’s deciding to interpret something that is simply not there.

HW needs to revisit his referee’s interpretation of contact with the hair.
