In this J1 League match, the referee whistled for a foul and sent off a Kyoto Sanga player for DOGSO.
However, another Shonan Bellmare attacker was also breaking through, and a clear goal-scoring opportunity seemed to persist.

Given that it was still early in the match and Shonan was already leading by one goal, do you think applying advantage would have been better, or was the red card more "beneficial" in the long run?
Personally, I believe the red card was the right choice. Securing a numerical superiority for the majority of the game, while already having the lead, likely provided a greater tactical advantage for Shonan than allowing the play to continue.

Can’t really opine in detail without seeing the play. But the general guidance is that advantage should only be played on a red card offense if a a goal is likely to score. That said, in my mind, beyond that, the advantage consideration should be based on the value of a send-off. But that’s just my opinion—I don’t recall any specific guidance actually out there on if or how to factor in the value of playing against a team a man short.

Doesn’t appear to be any real advantage there for me - correct decision. Possibly could have held on the whistle for a fraction but I think would have ended up being pulled back for same outcome anyway

The advantage GSO seem to be slightly better that the original GSO. However there is still the goalkeeper to beat and it is risky to play advantage straight after the foul as there is still a fair chance it may not result in a goal. Best option would have been to wait a little longer. A goal and no red card would have been acceptable for both sides and a better outcome for the game. Failing that giving the DOGSO straight away is the second best outcome. The worst outcome is playing advantage and no goal is scored.

Waiting 2-3 seconds may not seem long and can definitely show you if a GSO will occur. More than that, blow and red card. Proximity to keeper means he hasnt got a lot of thinking time either
