To my eye this looks like a missed offside offence, interesting one to watch due to the nature of offence and player movement. I wonder if anything was discussed over comms. The commentators take no notice.

The Ref Stop
Certainly looks to be offside, but probably quite tight if they got the lines out due to the defender's head.

Good one to provide a clip of which is certainly a discussion point. In my world with no complaints received from the defending team, I would be seeking to return to the half way line & re-starting the game as quickly as possible. lol

That's a good point, a lot of referees will say if there is no appeal from the keeper they aren't interested in a flag.

Which is a philosophy that leads to many player’s appealing all the time. And punishes the good citizens. I hate that reffing philosophy.
You may do, but it happens. I'd say in pretty much every game I did at step 2 that was in the pre-match instructions, and I would hazard a guess it is the same with the EFL and EPL referees.

I wouldn’t suggest it’s going to be the same in the EPL because they know it’ll be checked by VAR and KMIs judged, but agree at lower levels including EFL

They are predominantly cricket umpires filling in as football referees 😊
I mean cricket has less officiating controversies. Maybe we should borrow Law 31.1 (I Googled the citation, I don’t have the cricket Laws memorised lol).
