What a game! Harsh pen given to Forest, MGWs effort saved and then a minute later Braga go 1= up. Late on, Forest have a pen not given (more of a pen than the first one) and then Anderson off for what can only be OFFINABUS.

Thoughts?

The Ref Stop
I thought both penalty decisions were those that whether given or not VAR weren't getting involved.

Whatever Elliott Anderson said must have been extremely bad as the referee couldn't get his red card out quickly enough.

Anderson had that reaction he was expecting a yellow card to come out so clearly he must of at least sworn to the ref but how severe it was or whether he was implying the ref was bias might of what made it a red card.

I thought the first Forest pen was a nailed on pen, clear foot contact between the two players, the second one I don't think was simulation but the defender did pull his legs back whilst sliding and there might of been minor contact but would be a soft penalty if it was given.

It was a calculated reaction. He first walked away as if nothing had happened and that he wasn't even expecting a card. Then looked surprised and to pretend he has no idea what it is about. I think he knew what was coming his way immediately after the whistle was blown.

It's possible, but you could also be overestimating his intelligence. There are still a lot of footballers out there who say 'dissent is a yellow card' and don't realise OFFINABUS exists.

Some merit to your point. On the flip side commentators continue saying "he was sent off for dissent" and there is also the myth that swearing is a red card.

Two weeks ago I was the Observer at a match in which the away team captain was sin binned for dissent 8 minutes before half time.
As the players wandered out for the second half, the captain came to the touchline and shouted to me "I wanna talk to you later. Dunno what he sin binned me for. I wasn't aggressive and I didn't even f*****g swear at him"
I didn't reply, but two home team supporters sitting near me did that for me!

Sent off a 16 year old lad for turning to me mid game and shouting in my face calling me an F’in stupid/ rubbish C word. Manager straight faced said to me after the game that I had made an error as you can’t be sent off for dissent! When I explained it was offensive and abusive and therefore a sending off he genuinely looked like I’d made it up!

A wider point, but it amazes me how little the average person going to games knows the laws!

Maybe like Lescott did after the game as he said along the lines I did not know dissent was a red card.

I would imagine European refs would be more strict on that type of stuff aswell so pretty daft from the player really.

Probably thought as in the EPL you can’t be sent off for OFFINABUS, does it apply?

Anyone recall the last OFFINABUS for a player in the EPL?

Arnie Slot was sent off by MO after the final whistle last season.

The most recent one I remember was Mitrovic for Fulham vs Man Utd in the FA Cup (edit to add... I realise that's not technically in the EPL... but... you get the gist)

Which may not have been offinabus as iirc he entered the field of play to confront a match official which is a red card irrespective of the language used.

Lewis Dunk in 2023?

Being pedantic, but was that not for violent conduct as opposed to OFFINABUS? He grabbed the ref's arm/pushed him and then was given an 8 match ban iirc.

Not sure tbh... could have been for either, and either way the length ban was warranted as a result of not only the offence, but what happened after. I've just watched it back and he points in Kav's face shouting something at him, then as kav goes to reach for a card he shoves him in the arm. It's not clear whether he was going yellow or red already before the shove.
