The Ref Stop

Fulham vs Ipswich

The Ref Stop
Heavy touch, brought in the other defender as a covering defender for me and just about right.

I think in yours or my games we go red but when you get to look at the full picture think caution was right outcome.

It's an OGSO from a footballer's perspective, but the LOTG DOGSO guidance effectively puts emphasis on not 'spoiling the game' over and above meeting out just penalty for a form of cheating (The defender took a professional gamble with his actions and it paid off)

On first viewing, my instant gut feeling was caution. But Sky showed a freeze frame at half time that got me thinking.

I think I’m still happy with caution.
That was my gut reaction real time, I think there is enough doubt as to whether Wilson gets to the ball after a heavy touch and the position of the Ipswich 26. Could really go either way, but don't think it was anywhere near obviously enough wrong for VAR to get involved.

For the first penalty I don't think Bond can see the contact as Morsi's leg was blocking it, he was probably the only person that didn't see it so VAR involvement seems appropriate given it was very, very clearly a penalty. Completely agree that there should have been at least one caution for Fulham players and some for the coaching staff, no matter how bad the decision was they can't react like that.

Not seen the Davis yellow/red but all 3 pens were correct and I'd be deffo booking Wilson for dissent. Plus Silva. And also another Fulham player who threw the ball down (it's in the law as ana example FFS!)

So disappointing at the lack of any action against Wilson.

And players from every team constantly giving the referee their commentary and getting involved in VAR decisions is beyond ridiculous. Why does no referee seem to take any action apart from a polite request to go away.

But kicking a ball away 5 yards at a restart is punished so the token checkbox is ticked.

PGMOL needs to look at how they set the standards for grassroots and what their priorities should be. Dissent (and cheating) should be much higher priority, though this is OFFINABUS.
