Second yellow card for dissent

Hi all,

Quick one from me, I’ve not had it happen yet but want to preempt if for when it eventually does.

Scenario…

A player has picked up a yellow card (doesn’t matter what for…) and he then commits a C2 offence of dissent. What is the approach here to issuing a second yellow?

Do you immediately follow up with a red like normal? Do you point to the touch line and explain they can’t come back on?

I can’t seem to find the exact wording for this situation when a C2 offence is the second yellow.

I don't recommend this. It can provoke an 'undesirable' reaction. The pointing can come across as condescending. Every player knows what a red card means.
Yep... just make sure they go by the shortest and least confrontational route I reckon. In Scotland, we don't do sin bins and I hope it stays that way - although the sin bin for dissent sounds good it adds complication.

Something i have always done. 30 years later nobody have physically or verbally assaulted me for doing so.

very player knows what a red card means.
You say this but a few seasons ago I sent a player off in the u18s midweek league for VC, at full time came storming onto the pitch to start another scuffle, apparently it was my fault he didn't know a red meant he had to go back to the changing rooms 🤷‍♂️

I reckon a good half of my red cards (at any level) has had the player go and sit on the bench until a *gentle* reminder from me to the manager.

(Am not a ”pointer”. Just observe, manage, and react)

Did you insist that the player go to the dressing room when dismissed and then restart the game?

I remember pointing in that direction saw him walking down the tunnel and then restarting the game. 5 minutes later he's still in kit squaring up to to the smallest player on the pitch
It happens, not a great deal you can do about it. Years ago I sent two players off for VC and sent him them back to the changing room, one came back out later, made a comment and the entire opposition team chased after him. His team then chased after them, and they all ended up running out of the park, down Palmers Green High Street like some scene out of Benny Hill (who's old enough? 😂), police called and game abandoned. Left me wondering if I'd done anything wrong, but ultimately don't really think I could have done much more.
