Honestly, beside the drug use I don't see the issue.
If he's have been making plans to go out for beers would this even register?
Feels like a bit of a pile-on at this point. The Sun better have their ducks in a row or DC is getting £££.
There's a bit of a difference between arranging a Class A drugs party in a Travel Lodge bedroom whilst acting as EPL Match Official and messaging a comrade at a similar time to confirm a leisurely post-match wind down over a few pale ale's and a bag of pork scratchings
(although those little savoury devils are a bit hard core for the uninitiated)

Maybe I need to get out (out) a bit more

The main mystery was, 'why would anyone record themselves' in such circumstances?
I think the answer has been slowly revealed to us over recent days

I think even organising a few beers for your mates ten minutes before an EPL match & at half time as 4O is an issue!

I thought mobiles in & around an EPL referee dressing room were banned?

PS.Subsititue 'pal' for fellow drug user. 😂

PPS. Hopefully this is all nonsense so DC can claim damages, get the help he needs & rebuild his life outside of refereeing. 🤞

Professional referees shouldn't be anywhere near their phones once the game has started until well after it has ended. They could look at replays of incidents, it would raise all kinds of integrity issues.

Plus, in any employment if you were found to have been organising a drugs meet whilst you were supposed to be working you'd be on a gross misconduct charge and fired within days. Its a hell of a lot different to organising going out for a few beers.

Fair point on first paragraph.
But my work requires me to be sobre during working hours. If I want to arrange the biggest bender on my (personal) phone then I see nothing in the work D&A policy that says I can't.
In fact have we actually go the PGMOL D&A policy?

For the record I don't partake in drugs cos everyone I've ever met who regularly takes cocaine was a d*ck.

Again, you are comparing arranging a "bender", which is legal even if not exactly best medical practice, with arranging a meeting to take drugs that are illegal in this country. The two things are chalk and cheese, there is no comparison.

Who the hells stays in a Travelodge?!
The real offence!

When you're in a job where you are a public figure/role model/arbiter/professional and required to have high levels of extended concentration.

Illegal drugs should end in immediate dismissal.

The klopp thing was probably entering Bobby Maddley territory, maybe not as bad and the FA forgave him after a few years (At a reduced capacity).

Like, say, a professional footballer?
A lot apply to footballers but they are not arbiters of the rules. Their off the field shenanigans rarely brings their integrity or decision making into question. Unless it is gambling and when it does because if their in demand skillset, they are only punished for a short amount of time.

There plenty of examples of footballers being poor human beings of the pitch but remaining excellent footballers.

Referees have a different job with different expectations.

I am just thankful some people here wouldn't be jurors for my trial if I ever was accused of something.

More “revelations” today. After the Kieran Trippier stuff, which I felt to be ridiculous if I’m honest this showed incredible naïvety if true.

But more than that the slow drip feeding of things to the media screams someone with an axe to grind. Whatever the veracity of some allegations this is at its core a personal attack now - someone, somewhere wants to ruin him forever. Possibly while making a financial gain, because if integrity was the issue, they’d have gone to the FA or police. Not like this.

I’m also hoping that if this latest episode is false that the main media outlet pushing the story is taken to the cleaners legally speaking.

That was my thought. This has all of the makings of a social media smear campaign. Even if allegations are true, the method and regular timing of the allegations is much more about clicks than an investigation.

DC has only made one public statement to say "whatever his issues he may have had in his private life it never affected his decision making on the field".

His decision making off the field have been shocking & inexplicable. The latest, discussing yellow cards with a random Leeds fan he just met online is bizarre.

All his published acts (which he hasn't denied) are pushing the self distruct button for no apparent reason.

I am amazed that on his journey to an elite referee, none of his colleagues or management noticed he was doing some strange things away from refereeing?
