As a City fan watching that in a hotel bar in Tenerife after far too many all inclusive sherberts, it was clearly a second yellow. I dont know this for sure but I dont think Tierney has had many of the huge games and played it safe. I think the very best go to Andfield and give that 2nd yellow. But to get to the confidence levels of giving 2nd yellows at a place like Anfield in a huge game like this can understandably take time. But being an elite referee in the big games is getting to the mentality of giving the correct decision regardless of circumstances. Thats why the elite give that 2nd yellow imo. Tierney may well get to that level, I love his calmness (or impression of calmness) but there was another big game last year which I've forgotten where he was tentative during the game and copped alot of stick for it. I think he will get to the very top, but there is a flaw in his game to be ironed out imo.
Pep argued that a City player would recieve a 2nd yellow in that circumstance. I think that's not out of the question, but not because of any bias before people think I'm bitter or a conspirasist. It's the hardest thing to do to give a red to the home team at Anfield or Old Trafford because it gets the most attention
Great game of football and a fair result. I think Tierney will be pleased that City equalised and that takes the heat away.
