Sorry to jump in here! Any recommendations on a Garmin watch? Looking to get one for personal use and to use whilst refereeing!

I 100% learnt a lot from being an assistant for a few games, I did some u16 academy games as an AR and it was very helpful. Even though it’s not mandatory I would say if any new ref gets offered the chance to do some AR work, take it!

Well done on your first game! I’m 20 games in and beginning to get used to the ref calls! Had one today with the manager moaning for an offside, only thing is he said it as soon as flag went up which I replied to him ‘give me a chance to blow the whistle’ he laughed and we moved on!

Must be the weekend for it cos I had the same thing! On reflection I will defo come back stronger! Spent day thinking about it yesterday and have accepted it today, now move onto my game next week!

This was an u16s game! On a different note a fellow ref once said to me that I should be refereeing ‘real football’ not youth lol which begs the question if we all referees ‘real football’ would we have youth football.

I guess it depends on what has happened in the game so far as well, I had already warned the player about dissent, my tolerance levels are usually quite high! Funnily enough the player was respectful to me after that!

I should’ve at least sin binned the player, as I’ve just had the wgs asking why I didn’t haha, I take that one on the chin and learn from it! Put it down to my own mistake of not doing it looking back, when it rains it pours!

Sounds like I let him off easy then with just a caution! This was at u16 level as well which has shocked me a bit, but thank you for your response! I will 100% move on and keep going
