CAR foul throws

Out of curiosity does anyone let CAR’s flag for foul throws, or is it something you manage as a referee?

i ask that the watch for the feet. A foul throw with hands is much easier to spot from the middle - often they’re spiked into the ground or dropped.

Nope, never. The main reason being that foul throws aren't what people think they are - "ugly but legal" is a common response to calls for foul throws, because it's harder to foul throw it than most people think.

CAR's limited to ins and outs, so don't use them for foul throws.

Never. It's easy enough as a referee to spot them.

Thank you for all the replies! Had a game yesterday and CAR started flagging for foul throws, in the end had to tell them I’m the referee and I’ll deal with them!

Include it as part of your short brief to them before the game.

I always say "Just give me X/Y/Z please. Don't flag for anything else".

Truth is, most players/coaches/spectators don't even know what constitutes a "foul throw" anyway.
