Hi all,

Does the below quote taken from a 2022 RefChat post still apply regarding the level eligibility to potentially officiate in the Men’s FA Cup?

Extra Preliminary round - L4 in the middle, L5 on the line
Preliminary round - 3 or 4 in the middle, 4 or 5 on the line
1st Qualifying round - 3 in the middle, 4 (maybe 5) on the line
2nd QR - 2b or 3 in the middle, 3 or 4 on the line
3rd QR - 2b (maybe 3) in the middle, 3 (maybe 4) on the line
4th QR - 2a or 2b in the middle, 3 (very occasionally 4) on the line and 4O

For context, I have attached the 26/27 round dates to this post

Thanks
Marcus

I’ve done the line as a level 6. Twice!

Me too, but a few years ago now.

I always looked on those appointments as a reward for the previous season’s performances.

So I can safely say I’ve appeared in the FA Cup. 😉

I got a 3Q 4O appointment as a 4 which made me very happy, being at the ground at 115 for a 3pm didn't 😂 (I actually didn't mind as I know it's expected that far up the pyramid). Iirc correctly the ground was probably an hour and quarter away as well. Earliest I've ever had to get to a game!

90 minutes before k. o. time is the minimum in our local Step 5/6 league.

Probably about right but it's all dependent on the level of the teams. There will be some all step 4 fixtures in the EP round which will be L3 in the middle with 4s on the line, whereas all step 5 fixtures will be L4s, equally step 4 vs step 5 could be a 3 or 4.

If you're really bored and have decent knowledge of your local referees and their levels/local clubs you could have a look on moas and work it out!

As stated above, there is no longer a level 2b and 2a; L2 now covers step 2 (National League North/South) (same as the old L2b). 2a merged with the National Group (L1) who cover League 1, League 2 and step 1 (National League Premier).
