Huge bug-bear with me are those fellow referees in your game either as a parent or a coach giving you feedback. Stay in your lane!

The Ref Stop
Only time ive used it was a recent match.
I went to watch my neighbours team play. But the pitch next door was getting very heated to a point the referee stopped the game to tell one of the sets of parents/coaches off (all stood together).
After the game i approached him, after watching an after match commotion in the centre circle, and offered him my support and mentioned that I was a referee, just off duty so to speak. He said he was fine but thanked me anyway.

But otherwise I keep quiet im a ref too purely because I hate it being said to me.

I had a coach ( said he was a referee) ask me why I didn't book a player. I told him it was a careless tackle he replied so you agree you got it wrong then and should of caution the player I'm a qualified referee too. Then you should know careless in not caution. No you got it wrong go back and read the the Laws again. End of conversion.

I coach an isthmian u18’s team and I know a lot of the officials (refs & Lino’s) that we get. I also do the team sheet exchange , etc, so always pop in to say hello but never say anything , regardless of if they are the best official(s) we’ve had all season or on the other end of that scale, I don’t comment. If they ask for my opinion, I will give it , but I don’t get involved. Especially since some of the officials we get are 6-5 , 5-4 candidates trying to progress - that’s why sometimes the more senior officials are on the line in this particular league.

Hmmm. I think I would have had a caution here, just not the one he wanted. . .
