Censorship
Anyone notice the player, 11 mins in roughly, from Uruguay badly hurt but not hurt enough to shuffle 3-4 yards back on the pitch.
Now a stretcher called.
Would it be absolute karma if he has seriously hurt himself more by doing what he done.
Should the ref have cautioned him, even if a friendly?

Interesting call if he had played on! Would have backfired as clearly he was hurt but he moved a long way to get back on to the pitch.

Well that was a leg breaker
Not seeing it myself. For all Lee Dixon banging on about that being red in the Premier League, I very much doubt it. I know we do t take pundits into account but there’d be a few going on about how harsh it is etc.

And had that been an England player, and he’d been sent off, we’d never hear the end of it.

While technically improper to come back on the pitch if injured to get play stopped, has anyone ever seen that called an offense in a professional game? There is no way a professional ref is going to make that call until the powers that be tell teams it is unacceptable and that refs have been told to caution any player doing it.

Wow.

Ugarte, already on a yellow card, was shown another yellow card but was not sent off.
According to commentary it now "no longer exists"

Thats what i was thinking.
He managed to "change his mind" in a second.
Is it a penalty though?
He put his shot over the bar and the feet made natural connection for me.
He has given nothing to England for worse challenges.

I haven’t checked but in my head Kane got a penalty for a similar thing against Holland didn’t he back in the euros?

Was thinking similar myself.

As for the Ugarte incident, don’t recall a caution other than for dissent? Even went through BBC text commentary and can’t find a mention of it either.

He gave Ben White a YC for the foul for the penalty, after the lack of YC for some very late challenges from Uruguay.

YC given for the foul on Cole Palmer in 70th minute on right wing.

There is no question he messed up, he has given two YCs.

Strange but they do have access to comms.
If true, can probably see that ref not go to USA.
He isn't an elite category referee so was never going to the USA anyway. I suspect this was something of a development game for him and he has fluffed his lines in a big way.

For the big decisions, I don't think the challenge by Araujo was as bad as the commentators made out, but he came in with a lot of force and caught him high up the leg. In isolation I can just about accept VAR not getting involved, but the same VAR has then got involved in a very debatable penalty decision. One of those decisions was a far more clear and obvious error than the other, and it wasn't the penalty one.

As for Ugarte, he definitely cautioned him earlier in the game for a foul on Palmer, and when he showed the card for dissent there really can't be any doubt it was for him, so this is a massive mess up.
