Foul Throw – How strictly do you call it?

Hi everyone! GoookeRef here.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about foul throws, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The first thing that caught my attention was this video:

At first glance, it really looks like one foot is lifted way up off the ground – my immediate reaction was "that's a foul throw!"
I watch some European football from time to time, and I started wondering: is a foul throw more tolerated in Europe compared to other regions?

On the other hand, in Japan, foul throws tend to be called quite strictly.
Take a look at this video – it's from an actual professional match in the Japanese league:

Anyway, getting back to the main point – do you personally call foul throws on the stricter side?
And honestly, if you were the referee, would you have called a foul throw on that first video?

Watching these matches, I was genuinely surprised by how differently foul throws are treated,
so I decided to start this thread. I'd love to hear what you all think!

I think worrying about foul throws is about he least important thing I do in a game. Two ways that I call them: the blatant ones that jump out and scream at you and when a player is trying to do the TI as CK--if you are doing that, you better do it right. But in general, a TI just gets the game restarted and is not something that warrants getting overly excited about. (I think that is what led to no longer worrying about sideways spin as we did once upon a time--it just doesn't matter.)

At the game between Stoke & Oxford last night (I think it was very soon after the Sheffield Utd v Coventry game finished with an earlier kick off), AR signalled a foul throw & Referee supported. Player incensed and clapped the AR along with some dialogue towards him & the Referee, whereby the Referee correctly gave him a yellow card. Replays clearly show 1 leg completely off the ground/up in the air at the time of the ball released. Typical modern day player not taking responsibility for his actions.

Three things for me.
If it’s very obvious then call it
Be consistent throughout
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
The video shown is very obvious a foul throw with a clearly raised leg right in front of the TA. I would call that. . Too obvious to ignore.

Agreed.
If you're 50/50 on whether or not to penalise and one TA is going bananas over it - it's probably best to just penalise.

Generally, these things are forgotten about within 30 seconds as the game resumes. Not a hill to die on.
