Presumably if a player used a racist term against an opponent, as well as following the FA's discrimination protocol you'd dismiss the player? The red card would be for OFFINABUS no?

Admittedly, I'd be a lot more likely to send someone off for calling me a cheating c*nt than calling an opposition player the same thing... but technically....

That was what I was implying by suggesting this incident must go down as VC. The whole act was aggressive though including the language. But the language used was no worse than some others on seperate occasions.

Yeah that's fair. I guess it comes down to, if he hadn't 'assaulted' the coach at the same time, would the language have earned him a red card? If not, then it would probably be wrong to go OFFINABUS

It's entirely possible and allowable for participant on participant OFFINABUS to occur. I've sent off one player for an obvious homophobic slur towards an opponent. I've also sent off a player for walking fifteen metres in order to loom over an opponent lying injured on the ground and shout aggressively "Get up you effin p*ssy". He defended himself in the bar afterwards by saying that it was 'just banter'

I also sent a player off for OFFINABUS. He had pushed an opponent after a play and as I came running in to shut down the situation, still planning a caution, he let loose with something that went too far. (I think he thought he was already being sent off for the push and had nothing to lose.)

This was an entirely odd situation because there was a mass con happening due to a tackle and then the goalkeeper decided to run from his goal to the dugout and assault his own manager for an unrelated incident - bizarre behaviour and definitely a red card now I think back to it

Depends on which county as some still handle their own.
The OP suggests the offender did commit OFFINABUS and possibly also comitted VC. Fair to write everything in to the red card, but I don't think writing an extraordinary report would be wrong.

Going back several years for this example admittedly, but sent a player off for violent conduct against another player. Reported all comments on the same charge sheet and he had it all lumped together into a more serious misconduct charge.

That’s where my approach has come from. If they’re separate incidents- such as returning after the game to have another go, then report separately. But these sound contiguous like mine were. Our job is to report; do it as quickly and efficiently as possible and move on.

Does this sound like Violent conduct?

Goalkeeper runs 50 yards to leave the field of play during a stoppage and remonstrate with his own manager.

He grabs hold of him aggressively near the chest and approaching the neck area, pushes him and strikes his chest with an open palm (could be a push or a strike). This goes on for about 30 seconds or so whilst others try to seperate. He also uses abusive language towards his own coach.

Would this best fit into?

I reckon I've probably had as many, if not more, OFFINABUS reds for language directed towards opponents (and on at least one occasion a teammate) than I have for comments made towards me. I'm going to have to look back and work it out now...

Eight reds for OFFINABUS directed towards me or one of my assistants, eight for OFFINABUS directed towards another player (seven opponents and one teammate), and one for a comment towards a club lino, which feels like it's a grey area in between the two

It's different now though, as for any standard dismissal there is no report to be written, just the name, club, and sending off code. Anything outside of that sending off offence should be reported using an extraordinary report.

The OP doesn't specify whether the VC or OFFINABUS occurred first, but that should be the defining factor for which offence the sending off is reported as, with an extraordinary report for the subsequent offence (unless they happen to have occurred simultaneously, which would mean the sending off would be for VC as the more serious offence)
