Does anyone have a list of the dates and locations for the fitness test in July? I don’t have a copy of the email sent out a few months back

Can confirm this is absolutely true! Heat over headwind any day!

Fortunately I've completed my most stressful part of the fitness test.... I got my blood pressure certified yesterday!
I actually love running in the heat. Did a half marathon the other week in 20+ degrees and loved it.

But as long as there's no head wind/rain, I'm happy

I am one of those people that really doesn't care as long as it's cold 😂 I was on the line in January on a sub zero day with short sleeves. I wonder why people think I'm mental. Good luck to all doing fitness tests!

Very annoyingly, I failed my sprints on Sunday by 0.04 seconds on 2 attempts - No leeway given due to the heat, straight up fail.

Due to holidays, I don't think I can do a retest until September now - Does anyone know how this effects mid year promotions, as I was having a good half year?

Sorry to be blunt, but the heat wouldn't affect sprint times, so not sure why they would give leeway because of it.

Theoretically it wouldn't affect mid season promotion, providing you retest and pass. The only thing it may affect is your ability to complete enough observations in the calendar year, but if you pass in September and get enough in, no reason it should affect that.

Ah I know, just was looking for an excuse :D

Thanks for the response.

Is there anything official about the rest time we're supposed to have between completing the sprints and starting the interval test? Was in the final sprint group on Sunday, think we only got about three minutes before we started the intervals.

15 minutes.

If they're going to start everyone at the same time for the intervals then they should get everyone in a long line for the sprints instead of doing each groups sprints back to back.

As with the observation marks etc - there has to be a cut off. With the fitness tests you get 4 attempts - which is too many - but does give you further options to get through it..

I've yet to book my test
How many sprints do we need to do this year?
I was under the impression (for some likely imagined reason) we all had to do 5 and pass them all
It had occurred to me this would make a material difference to the difficulty level of the shuttles

You’ve imagined that one altogether!
4 from 5

Even so, 4x sprints makes a difference compared to the two we've done previously
We might think we do, but we never sprint full pelt in a game. Well, you might, You might sprint the entire 90 mins, but us normal folk really only go to 95% cos that extra 5% is expensive
I've always said the L4 test is too easy, but the extra 2 sprints will make a difference for anyone unfit

Trouble being, I was lazy in June, then got a 2 week injury in July and now it's holiday season. I'm either on the golf course or the beach for the next two weeks and can't get a BP test done so I'll drift into mid-August before dusting off my whistle. Maybe longer as appointments will all be done

Not to worry, August can be quite difficult as I'm not a lover of exercise when the temp gets above about 5 degrees
Give me a rainy, windy day, preferably with a bit of sleet in the air, or some mizzle, haar or hoar to cheer me up

It really has made a difference. I did the test a couple of Sundays ago and at least 10 failed the sprints and weren’t then allowed to do the intervals. It was wet and slippy but no allowance was given. Now they use the timing gates there really is no hiding place with the sprints!

They used the lasers last year too. I was under 6s on one of them and I'm 51
That said, I've let myself go a bit since Newcastle won the Carabao Cup. Party is still going on, so might be eating humble pie this time around
