He must have someone feeding him information from PGMOL, whether officially or not. Can't recall him ever being wrong, and without access to privileged information I don't see how he can be right every time.
There’s a very good chance that the PGMOL press team release the information to him, as a sort of trusted media personnel who won’t twist their words.

Football clubs have this exact setup

Yeah, I was thinking that was probably the case. And if it is they will have told him he mustn't say he has that relationship otherwise all media outlets would be demanding the same.

Seen it now. 2 shirt pulls, attacker goes down, penalty. VAR shows bad angle. Overturned. Joke. That’s in the bottom three moments of VARce for me. Awful.

Although many do not believe it was an appropriate VAR referral, many believe it was the correct decision that it was not a penalty (though also believe that it should have been a yellow card for simulation). In my opinion, the eventual outcome was neither a joke nor awful.

It's certainly not nefarious - he was the following 'disclaimer' at the bottom of every article, so it's almost certainly PGMOL press office formally providing him factual background:

Some factual parts of this article include information provided by the Premier League and PGMOL.

That could just be facts about the VAR protocol though, not necessarily the decision making process that happened for a given decision.

It could be Rusty, but given the depth and detail of his explanations that are given as fact, not as “I think…” it seems relatively safe to assume (admittedly that can be dangerous!) he’s getting either briefed or given access to the audio.

As he’s still willing to give an opinion, I suspect it’s the audio.

Well he works for a broadcaster, so they will have access to the audio, but I thought they could only hear the VAR officials discussing between themselves, not any communication between VAR and the on-pitch officials.
