Friendly Grealishimulation

The Referee Store
He was the most fouled player in the Championship by a country mile. He also was not cautiones for simulation once. Its very short sighted to say his reputation supersedes him. Even in this case people are looking to say he brought it on himself whilst at the same time everyone agrees it was an awful decision. You cannot have it both ways. Stats do not lie.

Have you watched him play? As I said before he spends more time on the floor than he does stood up, if he feels even the slightest bit of contact he flops. Not really just his fault, but referees are going to be wary of this and players need to take responsibility for their actions.

I can't believe that no one has backed our colleague's decision by saying that from his angle it looked like a dive, which is why he gave it. He didn't have all these other angles to look at. Grealish also wraps his foot behind Zaha's to try and make it look like a foul.

He didnt have any other angles to look at because he blew his whistle too soon! He made a rod for his own back. He made a bad decision worse by not using VAR instruction correctly. A bad decision is one thing but to remove any chance of correcting is inexcusable. But its ok... his on TV again this week 🙈

Look at this another way. The referee saw a dive. If he saw a handball or a trip, his reaction would be the same and it would be a quick check to see if there was an advantage to the non offending team. In this case there was clearly no advantage to the non offending team which is why he blew as the ball went to Lansbury.

You have muddied the use of VAR in a couple of your responses on here. He did not use VAR incorrectly. VAR has no jurisdiction, other than the penalty check, and Dermot Gallagher's analysis was spot on.

If you are the ref and you are convinced there is no advantage to the non offending team, wouldn't you just blow your whistle and give the free kick for the blatent dive you thought you just saw?

A whole thread generally supporting a repeat cheat before an esteemed SG colleague.... we live in strange times!

Dean Smith another in a long line of managers who likes to paint the picture that his team is persecuted.

Last season he claimed that QPR 'targeted' Grealish. Actual fact of the matter was that QPR player Ebere Eze fouled more in that game than Mr G despite Aston Villa having more possession!
