Blatant back pass on 67 by Cardiff, defender plays perfect pass with the knee... circumventing!

GK collects... has to be YC IDFK surely

(Max 7.9 for Atkinson love him though)

Then I guess heading or chesting the ball back is equally circumventing

The law says deliberately kicked. He hasn't kicked it

So by that logic, wouldn't heading or chesting the ball to the GK also be circumventing?

He didn't kick the ball. He used his thigh. How can you possibly think this is a passback offense much less a yellow card?

Circumventing is doing something like flicking up the ball to head it back. You are allowed to play it back with any part of your body other than your foot (and obviously hands / arms) - you wouldn't penalise someone for heading it back and this is no different whatsoever.

LOL I was just getting a bit nervous ;)

Bizarre penalty situation... on what planet does a pro defender do that much holding and expect to get away with it...

I can believe the complaints

Of course there's contact and probably a pen, but he buys it he collapsing to the floor. It was an unnatural fall, without question imo

Players shouldn't initiate contact, that is obvious. But I think if a defender grabs an attacker with both arms and won't let go he has a right to try and escape. I don't think there are many players that wouldn't have done what Salah did there.
