Phil Neville England Ladies Coach

So Gary Neville was appointed as the new coach of the England Ladies team.

For me this could be a good appointment, he has played at the highest level, and he has been first team coach at Manchester United, caretaker at Salford City (doesn't really count), and assistant manager during an unsuccessful stint at Valencia.

Now people are sharing some tweets made years ago on twitter, but that is par for the course.

What are people's thoughts on this? I guess the only real negative is that he hasn't been involved in the women's game before, but, at the end of the day football is football, and a good coach should be able to adapt, although he will of course have people around him who have more experience in the women's game.

"I'm not sure he has! Pretty sure it was Phil"

Gary would never have got the job with his managerial track record!

It was a joke more based towards Gary (as per the comment above) after his rather poor managerial stint there. Stop spoiling my fun :( :p

Well yes, unfortunately there are some very sad people out there who trawled through 7 years of twitter posts to find one where he said he thought women would be make breakfast or something.

Not appropriate comments, but not exactly the worst thing that has ever been posted.

Some people just spend their lives being outraged by things

I would like to know in this day of equality, Phil is on 120k per year yet Southgate is on 3 million per year. Now, had say England ladies manager been a female, is she correct to expect 3 million per year and if so, surely in the name of fairness, Nevillle is too....

Phil Neville has a surprise for the England’s Ladies team 1st training session...... (One of the better ones on Twitter) :)

@Ciley Myrus I think you make a good point there. However, I don't think fairness has anything to do with that in reality. I think the salary is about right in comparison.

What we need to remember is that the money flowing in the mens game is astronomical in comparison with the womens game. I think that if there was an equal amount of money in each part of the game the salaries would be near enough the same.

I totally agree. Its just with society as it is of late, it would not be a surprise to hear of a female womens coach demanding the same pay, nevermind work for what, 5% of the same as her male colleague
